All of these QB's belong on this list, but I'd put them in different order and here's why"

1) Drew Brees - All he's done is have more yards, competions and attempts than any other QB in the NFL since 2006. He's gone virtually unnoticed and was left off the Pro Bowl roster in favor of Jeff Garcia, who had season stats comparable to a month's worth of stats for Drew Brees

2) David Garrard - He is accurate, has a deceptively strong arm, make plays with his scrambling when he needs to, and is not turnover prone. What more do you want out of a quarterback? Most NFL teams are lucky if they find a QB that is 2 out of 4. Jacksonville has all four. That explains how it was so easy for them to ditch Byron Leftwich

3) Matt Hasselback - Underrated arm strength, pinpoint accuracy, and has put up incredible stats for years throwing to other team's discarded receivers and guys you or I have never heard of.

4) Donovan McNabb - Injuries have derailed him to a large extent. But I don't think anyone in their right mind puts him outside of the top 10 QB's in football when he's 100%

5) Eli Manning - I think Eli's finally starting to get the credit he deserves. He put his team on his back and won them a Super Bowl. I think that he's viewed as "underrated" because of that #18 guy in Indianapolis.

David Garrard (Bill Frakes/SI)

Who is the most underrated quarterback in the NFL?

David Garrard, Jaguars....20%
Eli Manning, Giants....8%
Drew Brees, Saints....8%
Donovan McNabb, Eagles....7%
Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks....6%

[Based on a survey of 320 NFL players]

FAST FACTS: Players could not vote for a teammate.... Manning finished third in last week's poll, which asked, Who is the most overrated quarterback in the NFL?... Brees's successor in San Diego, Philip Rivers, led the overrated poll; in this underrated poll, QBs were partial to Brees, giving him 27.8% of their vote....Since 2004 the Jaguars are 22–13 in regular-season games that Garrard has started.

This is an NFL poll from the October 20, 2008 issue of Sports Illustrated.

What's your take on this poll?
