as someone who hates the rangers and avery, i agree with hailkinghenrik completely. avery is too much of a vag to back up his dirty talk with dirty play. pronger, simon, and half the flyers roster belongs atop this list.

Absolutely ridiculous that Avery is #1, he might talk a lot of crap but that is not being dirty. And how the heck is Tucker not even in the top 10? If Avery is #1 then Tucker should be #2. How Simon is not #1 with the things that he has not only done in the last two years but over his entire career is beyond me. I guess to NHL players intentionally trying to injure a player and using his stick and skate as weapons is not as bad as someone trash talking. This pole is ridiuclous and meaningless. The NHL just likes to villify Avery for his past not judge him for the way he has changed since joining the NY Rangers. I am glad he is on my team though!

All of the above players are on playoff teams.... Pronger recently served an eight-game ban for stomping on the leg of Canucks center Ryan Kesler as Kesler lay on the ice.

This is an expanded version of the NHL poll from the April 14, 2008 issue of Sports Illustrated.

What's your take on this poll?
