If you were starting a team, who'd be the first active player you'd pick to play on it?

Sidney Crosby, Penguins C........39%
Alexander Ovechkin, Capitals LW........14%
Roberto Luongo, Canucks G........14%
Vincent Lecavalier, Lightning C........6%
Nicklas Lidstrom, Red Wings D........5%
Jarome Iginla, Flames RW........5%
Joe Thornton, Sharks C........4%
Martin Brodeur, Devils G........2%
Scott Niedermayer, Ducks D........2%
Henrik Zetterberg, Red Wings LW........1%

[Based on a survey of 365 NHL Players]

FAST FACTS: Players couldn't vote for a teammate.... Last season Crosby, 20, became the NHL's second-youngest MVP; he's been out since Jan. 18 with an ankle sprain and is due back in March.... Ovechkin led the NHL with 78 points through Sunday.... The Devils' Martin Brodeur (eighth, 2.2%) was the only other goalie among the top 10 vote-getters.

This is an expanded version of the NHL poll from the February 25, 2008 issue of Sports Illustrated.

What's your take on this poll?
