We recently analyzed recruiting data from 2004-08 for the 65 BCS schools plus Notre Dame, and one principle finding emerged: Nothing's more important than defending home turf. Why? Because programs that draw at least 50 percent of their players from within their home state (or within 200 miles) win more than schools that don't. If you root for a California, Florida or Texas-based team, this is good news.
