Here are some nuggets as you devise Madonna-related heckles for A-Rod's next trip to your town:

• Disgraced QB Michael Vick has filed for bankruptcy. Well, sure, these are tough economic times. That 27 cents an hour from the prison laundry doesn't go as far as it used to.

• Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez saved a man from choking at a California restaurant last week by giving him the Heimlich maneuver. Good thing that didn't happen at a Chiefs game -- the guy would have been ejected for standing up.

Tiger Woods has turned down a position as assistant captain on this fall's U.S. Ryder Cup team. Tiger said he sees no reason to start showing up for the Ryder Cup now.

• Wimbledon champ Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from this week's Mercedes Cup with a knee injury. Ahhh, remember the good old days when guys won major sports championships with two good knees? What happened to that?

Brett Favre reportedly sent a text message to Packers GM Ted Thompson over the weekend, only for Thompson to reply that he was on vacation and they'd have to catch up later. Well, technically he wrote "BRB LOL," but we've translated for Rickapolis.

Here is where we find out if C-Rod is as much of a Material Girl as Madonna.

Waiting is the better part of valour.

Wow. . . Rickapolis gets an old-guy joke in a main post. Way to go!

July 8, 2008  02:43 PM ET

well....at least Gonzalez got the choking part down pat before the season starts....

We've got a saying in my department:

Patience is a virtue. But patients are just annoying.

Loved the Chiefs one. I don't see that rule being obeyed too often.

Rumors that the New York Mets have offered Gonzalez a contract are purportedly false.

What I find funny about the story is that the guy he saved is a HUGE Chargers fan. I wonder if Tony knew that before he saved the guy.

27 cents per hour? That's like $1.89 in dog money.

I tried that in a CT before. It didn't even get me an honorable mention.

Its too bad that Marty Schottenheimer didn't know about Tony's special talents in any of his playoff games. This Story even has ties to San Diego.....

AV,

DJ C had conveniently skipped over most of the facts, a common occurence at the 10-Spot.

Why is he coming to Knoxville? There is nothing here he would be interested in. Oh wait, we do have some really big balls.
