New Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni is 1-0, but he’s already embroiled in tabloid controversy for getting caught on camera cursing at the home fans.
With the Knicks holding a sizable lead early in the fourth quarter of Wednesday night's opening game, Knicks fans chanted “We Want Steph,” for guard Stephon Marbury, whom D’Antoni never did allow off the bench. Now comes news that while fans were calling for Marbury, an MSG Network camera shows D’Antoni mouthing, “You’ve got to be (bleeping) kidding me. You’ve got to me (bleeping) kidding me. What a bunch of (bleep) holes.”
Yet there’s still more to the story. The 10 Spot’s secret camera also caught D’Antoni saying the following things on the sideline as well:
10. “It was so uncool when Isiah blamed the Knicks’ losing record on his daughter”
9. “They do realize we’re actually winning, right?”
8. “I had no idea Marbury’s sneakers were that popular”
7. “This is just the kind of stuff that can drive a coach to sexually harass front-office execs”
6. “If only the MSG Network had a censorbot”
5. “And to think I was going to allow a lucky fan to ride in my SUV tonight”
4. “Don’t they see I’m trying to make him the best point guard who doesn’t play in the NBA?”
3. “My bad, I thought they were calling for my ex-wife”
2. “I thought New York fans were supposed to be smart -- wait, is this camera ON?!”
1. “What, no love tonight?”
