• Eagle in Atlanta: Boston College is a 2.5-point favorite over Virginia Tech. Why is this significant? It's believed to be the first time since 1994 the Eagles have been favored over the Hokies.

• Brian Landman, St. Petersburg Times: Brenda Monk, the former Florida State "Learning Specialist" who is a key figure at the center of the university's academic fraud case, broke her silence this week and told the newspaper that she is "not a dishonest person."

• Michael Eisenstein and Gabe Nelson, Michigan Daily: A Michigan hockey player was "body- slammed" during an altercation with a Wolverine football player.

• El Paso Times: The police blotter for Texas El Paso's home game last Saturday against Tulane included three fans getting ejected for "using profanity to the point of instigating a confrontation with others at the stadium."
