Tim Kawakami, San Jose Mercury News: Don't be surprised if Stanford's Jim Harbaugh is courted by NFL teams in the offseason.

Matt Hinton, Dr. Saturday: Add Terry Bowden to the voices who believed Clemson did the right thing in telling Tommy Bowden to pack his bags.

Greenville News: Clemson president Jim Barker said the money to buy out Bowden's contract will come from the athletic department and not state appropriations, student fees or booster contributions. Clemson will pay Bowden $583,333 a year for six years.

Jack Bogaczyk, Charleston Daily Mail: West Virginia and Louisiana State have agreed to a home-and-home series in 2010 and 2011.

Bob Condotta, Seattle Times: The chances of Washington quarterback Jake Locker returning this season are called "highly unlikely" by offensive coordinator Tim Lappano.

Eric Hansen, South Bend Tribune: Notre Dame tight end Will Yeatman has been suspended from all football activities, including practice, for the remainder of the season.

Evan Woodbery, Mobile Press-Register: Tommy Tuberville got a bit feisty after being asked about Alabama passing Auburn as the top team in the state.

Commercial Appeal: TOM II, the Bengal Tiger mascot of the University of Memphis, died.

Eagle in Atlanta: Boston College is a 2.5-point favorite over Virginia Tech. Why is this significant? It's believed to be the first time since 1994 the Eagles have been favored over the Hokies.

Michael Eisenstein and Gabe Nelson, Michigan Daily: A Michigan hockey player was "body- slammed" during an altercation with a Wolverine football player.

El Paso Times: The police blotter for Texas El Paso's home game last Saturday against Tulane included three fans getting ejected for "using profanity to the point of instigating a confrontation with others at the stadium."
