• Ron Morris, Columbia State: All signs are pointing to Dabo Swinney, who took over for Tommy Bowden, becoming Clemson's head coach.

• Chris Dufresne, Los Angeles Times: Once again, the Bowl Championship Series is ready to discount the value of a head-to-head matchup.

• Eric Crawford, Louisville Courier-Journal: He'd like to take some time to thank everyone -- "college presidents, the BCS, the Big 12, the Pac-10, the Big Ten, the Big East and the others who have opposed a playoff -- for the farce this has become. Nice work, folks. I don't think it could've been screwed up any better."

• Jeff Walker, Lubbock Avalanche-Journal: Those outside of Lubbock will look at Texas Tech's 65-21 loss and automatically eliminate the Red Raiders from BCS contention, but they shouldn't.
