Kansas (7-5) vs. Minnesota (7-5)
Dec. 31, 5:30 ET, NFL Network
Reason To Watch: Minnesota returns to the scene of the crime. In the 2006 Insight, the Golden Gophers raced to a 38-7 lead against Texas Tech, then watched as the Red Raiders roared back for a 44-41 victory in overtime, the biggest comeback in bowl history. That led to the firing of Glen Mason and the hiring of Tim Brewster. These Gophers appear to be just as capable of ruining a good thing. Minnesota started 7-1, then lost its last four, including a 55-0 thumping by Iowa in the Gophers' final game in the Metrodome.
Keep An Eye On: Kansas quarterback Todd Reesing has passed for 3,578 yards and 28 touchdowns. He's eighth in the nation in passing, which is good for only fourth in the pass-happy Big 12 Conference.
Did You Know?: This game got its start in 1989, when it was known as the Copper Bowl. The name was changed in 1997, and in 2000 the game was moved to Bank One Ballpark, now known as Chase Field, in Phoenix. In 2006, it was moved again, this time to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe.
Final Analysis: Minnesota did not beat a Division I-A team with a winning record and appears to be in Tempe because of a soft schedule. Three of Kansas' losses were to teams ranked in the top 10.
The Pick: Kansas 42, Minnesota 24
