Seiichi Uchikawa, who has a prunounced underbite, leads off the inning by grounding out back to Jung Keun Bong. Bong then strikes out newcomer Kenta Kurihara on a changeup.

The 2-1 pitch to Akinori Iwamura is a changeup just inside that Derryl Cousins calls a strike. That pitch was a ball last inning. Despite the more favorable strike zone, Bong walks Iwamura.

On 1-1, Bong fools Yasuyuki Kataoka badly on a changeup. Three pitches later, Kataoka slaps a lesser change into right field for a single, bringing Ichiro Suzuki up with runners on first and second and two outs.

Bong starts Ichiro out with a fastball low and away in the dirt for ball one. That brings the Korean pitching coach to the mound. My guess is that Bong overthrew that last pitch, which was clocked at 91 mph (he had been throwing 93 in the first inning). Bong is at 50 pitches already.

After the visit, Ichiro taps the very next pitch, a changeup, to first base to strand both runners.
