Hisashi Iwakuma has thrown just 60 pitches through the first five innings.
Here he gets a quick comebacker from Ki Hyuk Park for the first out. That turns the order over for just the second time. The bottom half of my scorecard is extremely tidy. The top half . . . not so much.
Iwakuma walks leadoff man Yong-Kyu Lee. That's just the fourth Korean baserunner of the night and just the second to linger for another batter's at-bat (Shin-Soo Choo homered, Young Min Ko was thrown out stretching), thereby forcing Iwakuma to pitch out of the stretch.
Yong-Kyu Lee takes a huge lead, with his left foot even with the edge of the cutout. Iwamura catches him leaning, but hesitates for a second anticipating a possible run down and Lee is able to scramble back to first by the slightest margin. Lee runs on 2-2 and is thrown out easily as Jin Young Lee strikes out. Yong-Kyu Lee's head-first slide sends him forehead-first into Hiroyuki Nakajima's left knee. The impact breaks off a chunk of the brim of Lee's batting helmet. Lee is shaken, but okay.
