I think that New Orleans is the sleeper team in the West. People are dismissing them from the playoffs because Dallas and San Antonio are in their division. But that dosen't matter. Right now, both Dallas and New Orleans are tied for 2nd in the Southwest being one game behind, and with 5 playoff spots other than division winners, they'll probably make the playoffs.
So that will get them in. But what will get them through the playoffs? Simple. Chris Paul scoring and dishing, and Tyson Chandler clashing on the boards.
If the playoffs started today, they would be the 5 seed. That would pin them against Dallas in the first round. I think that they would get by them with Chris Paul shredding the defense in 6 games.
In the next round, I see them playing the Trailblazers. I think that they would win that easily in 5. The Blazers don't have anybody fast enough to keep up with Chris Paul, or tall enough to out rebond Tyson Chandler.
In the Conference Finals, I think that they would play the Suns. Then they would probably lose, but Conference Finals is pretty good for a sleeper team, I think.
That's why the Hornets are the sleeper team in the West. I think.

I'd have to go with the Cinderella TrailBlazers. McMillan has these guys on fire. Led by Roy and Aldridge, they definitely have a shot at going deep into the playoffs. They will probably cool off a little late in the year, and could end up with a favorable matchup in the first round.
The playoffs DONT start today. A young team like the Blazers may fade a little toward the end of the regular season grind, only to ramp it up in the playoffs. Emotion could carry them past a couple of teams, ie the Warriors last year vs the Mavs. They probably don't have the experience to go all the way, but great coaching will get them far and makes them my sleeper team.

Okay. You took the words right out of my mouth. The youth of this team. The inexperiance of this team.
That's what will keep them from winning in the play-offs. They won't know what to do in the play-offs. They'll just fold.
I also think that they're not going to be a sleeper team because I don't think that they qualify as a sleeper team. A sleeper team, to me, is a team that comes out of the wild card and wins at least 2 series in the play-offs. With the way that things are looking right now, I think that they will come out of the regular season division winners. So I don't think that they qualify as a sleeper team.
Your turn.

Sorry for the weak argument Dwade. I'm so not into this right now - but had to start before the deadline.
