Don't get me wrong statistics wise, this is going to be a great game, but stats don't win games. I'm going to have to pick of course, Green Bay, my reasons homefield advantage, Seattle's played in a weak division and has had a less competetive schedule.

Seattle is 10-6 and Green Bay 13-3
Seattle is 3-3 against .500+ teams
Green Bay is 6-1 against .500+ teams

Green Bay's offense is going to be the answer to this game, the variety of weapons against Seattle's Pass-rush defense, Favre will not be as easy of a target as Todd Collin's was, Green Bay has a better OL than Washington, and Favre can get rid of that ball quickly to make a play to one of his 5 WR's, TE, or RB.

Green Bay and Seattle's defense both match up well, but the edge is the corners and safety's on GB, this will be used to shut down the anticipated passing game from Hassleback, Shaun Alexander won't be a threat he is not playing like he use to, Seattle is basically a one-dimensional team now, this is in Green Bay's favor.

Expect Green Bay to win this game, although it should be a good one.

I do agree that this should be an excellent game im going with Seattle.
Your argument that Seattle plays in a weak division can be said about Greenbay as well. The Bears,Vikings and Lions were all .500 or under teams.I like Seattle defense verse the Packers offense. The way you have to beat Greenbay is to pressure Brett farve. This Seattle line is up in the tops of the league right behind the Giants line. They will bring pressure and force Farve into some mistakes like the Bears were able to do.Also while Alexander is not playing like his old self they have Morris back there as well who is playing very good in a split role.I dont agree that they are one dimentional, they can run and i expect them too.

Your first argument about divisions, Green Bay actually had a playoff contender in their division unlike Seattle's, which is the weakest division in the NFC, Lions were 6-2 at one point and Vikings were above .500 Green Bay beat both teams twice, I don't think you can compare the NFC North to the NFC West.

Green Bay has already played many teams who have brought pressure to Favre, the key is that he has many options and weapons when that pressure is brought, this won't look like that Redskins game.

I won't even comment on the last Bear's game, they were stuck with the option to throw after the 2 blocked punts, putting Favre into the position to throw in 25+ winds almost 100% of the time, was weather factors more than pressure.

Morris and Alexander will be contained with Green Bay's D line and linebackers, note how GB has held LT and AP in games, along with Ryan Pickett coming back from an injury to fortifie the run defense. neither are explosive.

First off the north did not have playoff contenders. They had a couple of pretenders. Also the Vikings were 8-8 which equals .500.Detroit was 6-2 but they finished with a 7-9 record? And the Bears were also 7-9 so yes every team was .500 or worse.Yea I know two blocked punts force you into passing.Does that take away they fact that Farve was pressured and forced into alot of mistakes? As for Gb holding Lt and Ap down well the Pack played the Chargers when they were playing there worse football and Ap this year as good as he was was either great or terrible in games. Also youdo not need to be an explosive running team you just need to be able to do it enough to throw defenses off a little.perfect example was todays Gmen Tampa game. The Giants running game wasnt at its best but it kept grinding and it opened up some passes.

You're forgetting one fact, Green Bay can and will pressure Hassleback as well, Aaron Kampman, Nick Barnett, A.J. Hawk, etc...these guys are great at putting pressure on the QB, with the weak running game and the Seahawk's WR's being covered by GB's great back field with the likes of Al Harris and Charles Woodson along with Bigby I see Hassleback being prone more to making the mistakes rather than Favre.

Arguing about divisions isn't going to work, the NFC North is stronger period this season, Seattle had the Rams, 49ers, and Cardinals to face, very weak division this season.

The Giant's have a great running game, Brandon Jacob's is a power house, Alexander and Morris won't throw off GB's defense, the D-line of Green Bay is good enough to hold them at bay leaving the D backs to worry about the passing game, so yes you either need an explosive or powerful run game to throw off defenses, which Seattle doesn't have.

Green Bay has the edge in this game with speed on the defensive backfield and many weapons on the offense for Favre against the Seattle Pass rush defense, along with Homefield Advantage.

Forfeited Turn

Ok I agree the matchup on paper is going to be great and I think homefield advantage is going to be huge. If Seattle wants to win they will have to quite the stadium early and keep it that way. But some of the important matchups are going to be huge:

Patrick Kerney vs Brett Farve
(Clinton Portis got no where you expect Davenport to do well they will force Farve to throw and throw fast. When he gets frustrated he makes risky mistakes always has and alwasy will, but against a blitzing defense he can also rip them apart. It's less that Kerney will be incharge of getting there first because he will take up 3 blockers, its if the others can get there and will the rush get there fast enough is the question?)

Al Harris vs Matt Hassleback
(We all know Harris picked off Hassleback in the last playoff meeting in Lambeau 3 years ago, but him playing well is a must. As Merril Hoge said on NFL Live, Hassleback is up there with Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in reading defenses and changing the play at the line and with Charles Woodson on the other side they can shut down 1 reciever, but there are 5 options and Harris and Woodson can't cover all of them. Harris is going to have to have a great game to shut down Branch, Obamanu, Hacket, Burleson, and especially the old reliable Engram. While if Hassleback can read the coverage like nobody's business it will come down to Harris being able to make a play on the ball)

Trufant and Jennings vs Driver and Jennings
(With the rush on Farve on it will come down to Trufant and Jennings playing like mad men to shut down the Packers two options in the past game <Bubba Franks can't catch and their third and fourth recievers are not as quality as Burleson and Hackett>)

Burleson vs Packers Speacial Teams
(Burleson had more punt return yards then Devon Hester this year and had a punt return td and a kick return td, but he can also make dumb mistakes like fumbling, catching and running inside the 10, and can't forget missing the ball, If Burleson doesn't make any key mistakes and if the Packers miss just once on the coverage then he can turn the entire tide of a ball game)

In the long run as much as I like the Seahawks and want them to win this will be their toughest game to win, unless they play the Patriots in the superbowl, because they both match up against each other's weaknesses and they have to play them in what will be a freezing and loud Lambeau. I don't want to predict a score because I don't want to jinx the Hawks, and I especially can't pick Green Bay to win haha.

Sorry rainman your expectations are to high, they can't run haven't been able to since week 2 and espcially since Holmgren has taken up his pass first play calling priority. I do think that if by the off chance Alexander does have a big game then the Hawks will definitly win, but that is a highly unlikley and shouldn't play a role in anyones decesion.

The Waiting game.Im not saying they will go into Greenbay and dominate on the ground. They only need to grind some yards out and make it a threat.

January 6, 2008  09:49 PM ET

If they waste their time trying to grind some yards out they risk giving up a 10-0 or 14-0 deficet before it starts working. They need to go in pass happy and throw in a few runs in there like they have been doing, do no try to go in there and grind out yards because then they will go down and down fast.

January 6, 2008  09:51 PM ET

Basically they need to do the opposite of what the Giants did today, use the passing game to open up runs

January 6, 2008  09:55 PM ET

Seattle has been way to inconsistent this year. They lost games this year they should have won and they seem to finesse to win in Green Bay at this time of the year.

January 6, 2008  10:00 PM ET

Waiting Game, that was the longest comment I've ever seen

January 6, 2008  10:09 PM ET

Wow, here's a surprise...Pack man starting a throwdown on the Packers and picking the Packers....go figure:-)

January 6, 2008  10:10 PM ET

go figure Jim, the Cowboy fan, coming to ridicule me because I started a TD about the Packers. lol.

January 6, 2008  10:12 PM ET

waiting game, Franks can't catch??? Jim Jones Martin can both catch along with Franks.

January 6, 2008  10:12 PM ET

and trufant can only play one receiver..if driver is covered...jennings is open and visa versa..too many weapons. also, koren robinson is excellent after the catch and if franks isn't doing it, donald lee has had a strong season as their starting TE. too many weapons for Favre..so the only team that can beat the Packers in this game is the Packers.

January 6, 2008  10:14 PM ET

I was messin with ya...don't be so serious...

January 6, 2008  10:24 PM ET

seahawks on the road. can i start laughing now or next week? hahaha.

January 6, 2008  10:26 PM ET

Seattle needs to show up with an offense right away next Saturday...they were anemic for most of the 1st half.

January 6, 2008  10:35 PM ET

Terpsfan Yeah i really wish i got this TD, but I am not going to make one because it would be the third 1 already

Farvulous, ok trufant can cover 1 and jennings can cover another. I didn't typo, there is Kelly Jennings and Greg Jennigns one is a seahawk DB and the other is a Green bay receiver so what is your point. And if you think Seahawks will have to many recivers to cover then I would be extremley scared if I was a packers fan because they have 6 recievers, 2 Tight Ends, and two running backs (not named Alexander) that can catch. 5 of the recievers are amazing and Morris or WEaver are great 3rd down backs because they blocks and catches.

Packman, Franks is a blocking tight end, not the best pass catcher every time i see him play, stick by that comment

Finally, packbrew is completley right, as I said earlier if Seattle wants any chance to win they need to score early and shut out the crowd as a factor

January 6, 2008  10:35 PM ET

What does they seem to finesse to win in Green Bay this year mean Bucky???

January 6, 2008  10:47 PM ET

Seattle has a lot of receiving weapons sure, Waiting Game, but you seem to forget that Pack secondary is loaded with more than Harris and Woodson. Nick Collins and Atari Bigby are some very solid safeties out there, not to mention a great trio of fast linebackers in Poppinga, Barnett, and Hawk.

January 6, 2008  10:53 PM ET

Bubba cant catch? Give me a break. I believe he caught a TD pass against Detriot if im not mistaken, hmm?

January 6, 2008  11:54 PM ET

I know you were joking Jim, lol.
