The Dolphins were wrong for firing Cam Cameron.

Last year it was Art Shell, this year its Cameron. What's the deal with firing your coach after one bad season? What happened to a coach always getting 2 years to work with? There's no way that any coach can turn around an entire franchise in one season. Cameron wasn't even the GM, so how could he even improve this team? Lack of talent is the reason why the Fins won one game this, not bad coaching. If you gave Vince Lombardi a team full of bad players, he probably wouldn't make the playoffs, so why should we expect Cam Cameron to? It's sad that a great coaching mind like Cameron will be out of work next season. Maybe if his next team gives him some decent players and some time, Cameron will be a great coach. In fact, I really hope so, so the Dolphins will look stupid.

While I agree with you in some area's.....In other's I dont. True, I dont see the point of having a HC around for only 1 season. Usually that 1 season they are cleaning up the mess left by thier predecessor. But this is why they were NOT wrong in firing Cam....

Tuna is building his team in south florida. His team consists of his staff, his GM and his HC. Cam was just in the wrong place duing the "changing of the Gaurd". Parcells has very little ties with anyone in the dolphins organization. Look for them to clean house top to bottom and then re-staff.....

Once they re-staff...HC, DC, OC....Look for them to clean house in the locker room. Cutting and trading players that have little to no tie's with the staff...

All Coaches want to work with players they brought in.........Just like VP's like to work with staff members they bring in......

Forfeited Turn

Are you gonna argue??

Ya, sorry, once again, my computer wasn't working yesterday. And here's my argument:
Okay, so if Parcells is gonna re-staff, where is he going to find a better coach than Cam Cameron? Cameron is a great defensive mind that was given no chance to show his coaching skills this season. This will probably turn out like the Chargers situation of last year, where a great coach (Marty Schottenheimer) was fired and replaced by a bad coach (Norv Turner). There's no reason to fire a coach because they went 1-15 in one season. Here's the dirty little secret about the NFL: about 2% of coaches in the league are great coaches who can help your team out, and about 97% of coaches are mediocre and pretty much interchangeable (the other 1% is Norv Turner). Firing a coach your coach will just destroy and stability you had left after the Saban disaster, and stability is the key to winning in the NFL. Cam Cameron wasn't the problem, guys like Cleo Lemon were.

I agree that Norv is the Silver Surfer of the NFL...Every thing he comes in contact with shrivles up and becomes void...

Cameron was in the wrong place at the wrong time, thats it. Parcells wants his staff. The same way Cameron hired and fired his coaching staff, Parcells wants and NEEDS the same authority and power. I dont know how this could turn out like the Chargers thing.

Any coach who goes 1-15 will be on the hot seat. Weather it would be Mike Ditka, or Tom Landry. There would be people after thier head too.

Wasn't Cameron a terrible coach at Indiana as well? The warning signs were there from the beginning.

He is an OC

Lions need to hire Cam.

January 7, 2008  04:13 PM ET

The Dolphins were not wrong. He's just not a good head coach.

Cam showed zero promise this year and if he had the Big Tuna would of kept him.

January 7, 2008  04:29 PM ET

They decided to get the big Tuna in there now and he will do things his way. Trust me they are way better off.

Cameron and Shell weren't just bad coaches in terms of winning and all.

Cameron apparently was an overbearing control freak who forced his religion on others, and Shell seemed to be on serious amounts of dope, as he used ridiculously outdated schemes and made bizarre decisions (his offensive co-ordinator had spent the previous decade running a bed and breakfast.)

It is one thing to lose. It is another to lose AND be a threat to team chemistry/ make decision that will keep you losing.

Shell and Cameron's firings after only one year WERE waranted.

THEY WERE 1-15!

And Guthrie sums it all up for me.

You're the dipsiht Aaron.

I mean, you are repeatedly wrong and lose TDs and arguments. Maybe you're just completely wrong, but are convinced your idiotic points are correct?

Again, it is one thing to go 1-15. It is another thing to clash with all of your superiors, fellow workers, and players. That doesn't work. Perhaps you forgot that football exists OFF of the field as well...

Cam Cameron should've been fired. Before his final game, all of the players gave up on him. Joey Porter, Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor, and a few others started to call him spineless and gutless in the locker room, according to Jay Glazer. He lost the team's respect. Even if you look at guys like Eric Mangini and Romeo Crennel last year, their teams believed in their head coach.
