All-Underrated NFL Team

BASED ON THIS SEASON

No arguments in 1st argument, just list.

Don't put people who come up in the "Top 5 Players at this Position This Year" throwdowns or guys that are talked about that much. Or even in the top 10. Try to have a decent amount of differences to make this interesting please. As I said earlier, this is who is UNDERRATED THIS SEASON.

QB - Kurt Warner, ARI
RB - Jamal Lewis, CLE
RB - Clinton Portis, WAS
WR - Roddy White, ATL
WR - Derrick Mason, BAL
TE - Owen Daniels, HOU

DL - Adewale Ogunleye, CHI (would have put Justin Tuck, but everyone talks about him being the best back up in the league and Ogunleye is underrated this season.)
LB - Will Witherspoon, STL
CB - Lei Bodden, CLE
S (FS or SS) - Chris Harris, CAR

QB - Eli Manning NYG ( everyone on his backside about his team and his interceptions, wait till I knock your socks off with some interesting stats)

RB- Jamaal Lewis CLE

RB- Edgerrin James ARI ( quietly tossed up over 1200 rushing yards)

WR- ROOKIE - Anthony Gonzalez...IND..started off slow, ended up looking like a PIECE OF THE PUZZLE

WR - Roddy White ATL

TE- Kevin Boss.....NYG only started the last 2 games, but to be able to fill Shockeys shoes so admirably? Kudos to him!

LB- Freddy Keiaho IND

CB- Kelvin Heyden IND

S - Antoine Bethea - IND - With Bobby getting all the credit, Antoine flies under the radar.

DL- OGunleye CHI

Warner vs. Manning: Dropped passes, I bet. There was that, but Warner had more yards, higher completion percentage (partly due to drops, but also better accuracy by Warner.), more YPA, more TDs, less INTs, higher QB rating. And I don't get how Eli is underrated after getting so much appreciation for beating the Bucs.

Portis vs. James: Portis ALSO put up over 1,200 yards this season. Along with 4 more TDs! Portis was also more of a receiving threat with 20 more catches and nearly 200 more yards.

Mason vs. Gonzales: This isn't close. Mason has almost TWICE AS MANY YARDS! More TDs and more and many more catches.

Boss vs. Daniels: I'm not sure if two games really qualify him as the MOST underrated TE. Boss had 9 catches for 118 yards and 2 TDs. Daniels had 63 catches, 768 yards and 3 TDs.

Will vs. Freddy: Will had 29 more tackles, 6.5 more sacks, and 2 more FFs. He was never mentioned as one of the top linebackers like Freddy and he had a better season.

Bodden vs. Hayden: Bodden had more tackles, more INTs, and more PD.

Chris vs. Bethea: 30 more tackles and less INTs, but how often do you hear about a Carolina defensive player? Bethea missed more games, too.

Warner vs Manning -
Manning is on a RUN FIRST TEAM, and not a PASS FIRST.
Warner has MUCH MORE experience then Manning, We are talking about the SEASON PAST, not the POSTSEASON. Everyone always knocks Eli, yet He has thrown 17 less intereceptions in his 4 years then his big brother did in his first four seasons.

Portis vs James - Portis ISNT underrated....He is a BEAST, has been for a long time, only reason why Edge is underrated, because after last year, lots of analysts and fans alike wrote off his past performances to help from COLTS passing attack.

Mason Vs Gonzo --- first off Gonzo is a rookie, mason is finished his 11th year
Gonzo not only was injured, but WON GAMES, Mason can't say that. HECK GONZO BEAT THE RAVENS WITH 2 TD Catches.

Boss Vs DaNIEls - 2 games SCHMOO games....another rookie, when Shockey went down, so many ppl wrote off the Giants season, all of a sudden, Eli has JUST AS good of a check down TE and a great blocker so far as well.

Bodden I will give you.

BUT ANTOINE is a MONSTER.......its hard for a guy to get all the tackles when their mostly made within 10 yds of the Line of Scrimmage. He is a beastly hitter, and can read a QB like the best of the Safet

What kind of team makes absolutely no difference and experience makes no difference with being underrated. I don't really know what you're trying to say there because you aren't arguing the topic.

Portis WASN'T underrated. This season he was not considered near the top among running backs. He had a better year than Edge in both apects of the game. Running and receiving, he was better.

And Gonzo being a rookie has to do with, what exactly? What does Mason finishing his 11th year having anything to do with it? Mason had a MUCH better season than Gonzo. It isn't even close, actually. No, he didn't win games. Peyton Manning won games.

"games SCHMOO games" what is that? Anyway, Daniels out performed Boss this season. Exactly, teams wrote off the Giants because they didn't expect Boss to do anything. Therefore defenses didn't pay attention to Boss, leaving him open.

Umm, and Chris doesn't play in the same area as Bethea? They are both safeties. Safeties are there for tackling and that is what Harris does. Harris can also hit hard and read quarterbacks. Just do one thing. How many times have you heard Chris Harris' name compared to Antoine Bethea's?

Portis is not underrated...sorry, no1 dissed him.....therefore, no1 thought he wasn't a good back.

Rookie has alot to do with what is EXPECTED of you...sorry, the fact you cling to stats, means your not even catching the meaning of " UNDERRATED".

And you giving the Defense line? "Exactly, teams wrote off the Giants because they didn't expect Boss to do anything. Therefore defenses didn't pay attention to Boss, leaving him open. "
SO WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT DERRICK MASON OF BALTIMORE? teams LONG LONG ago wrote off the Ravens passing game.

"Umm, and Chris doesn't play in the same area as Bethea? They are both safeties. " I said Bethea can't tackle when noone can catch agaisnt him. Colts gave up the 2nd fewest 20 + yard games in the league.

Pass first and experience explain the differences in stats. Sorry......but an 11 yr veteran should and better get better stats then a a rookie.

A more experienced QB in a pass first offense, BETTER get more yards, and TD's then a 4th year QB who has played in a run first offense.

This just explains your stats...

And, NO, Clinton Portis was NEVER underrated this year. He is a good back who gets the respect he deserved.

My list must suck for someone to take it this fast. Uh oh.

I like Lana's list better despite it being stacked with Colts players. Ha!

Report Offensive Comment

How bout Marcues Colston who made all of $400k this season.

Report Offensive Comment

How is Marcus Trufant not the safety? No one knows who he is even though he lead the NFC in interceptions.

Eli Manning might be the 3rd most talked about QB in the entire league behind Manning and Brady.

The underated QB should be Drew Brees.

Clinton Portis is not overrated, he's not underrated he's a great back and gets the desrve he respects.

Report Offensive Comment

respect he deserves

Report Offensive Comment

sorry Saintsfanforever, Colston is underrated, but that "made all of 400K this year just makes me think about how American sports, or sports in general going to hell. Only 400K, I could live off 400K for 8 years.

Report Offensive Comment

Whats the criteria for being albel "underrated"?

Report Offensive Comment

Everyone knows Trufant...he's in the PB and the postseason...

Report Offensive Comment

"desrve he respects." Haha. Nice.

Yeah, definitely. He's not underrated, everyone's been talking about how he was a great all around player. Fantastic back, great block, everything. So yeah.

Report Offensive Comment

Colston wasn't underrated tho saints fan....i wanted to put him up there...but to me he is top 5 nfc material.....
his salary has to do with where he was drafted, not on how he is rated.

Waiting game.....Eli is not discussed, he is dissed.......so many people calling for his head, fans booing him, yet the guy has done things his brother never did this early in his career..

you are totally right on trufant, my bad.......

I think Portis is one of the better more consistent backs in the league...hence he is not there....

Jamaal got a bad rap, and cassidy can vouge for me when i was all up on him at the beginning of the season saying he will have a monster year.

"I think Portis is one of the better more consistent backs in the league...hence he is not there...."

That earned you that vote, Lana. :)
