The Los Angeles Lakers are playing basketball nobody would of expected at the beginning of the season. Many people said they were full of drama, team chemistry was not going to be good on and off the basketball court, and thought they were not going to be a good team. That is unless you were a BIG Lakers fan. Now they stand at 23-11, and are tied for 5th in the LEAGUE wit the SA Spurs.* Their role players are stepping up big time, and Andrew Bynum is showing the world why the Lakers were unwilling to trade him in packages to acquire O'Neal and Kidd. L.A. will remain consistent throught the rest of the season as they have now showed that they are fo' real. If Lakers continue this style of play we can see them go deep into the playoffs. And maybe just maybe there can be a championship parade throughout the streets of Los Angeles. But lets not get ahead of ourselves. The season is not even halfway done, but let's admit it, the Lakers are putting on a nationwide show, ON the basketball court.

Of course they have exceeded expectations but your argument goes to far. Plus in minds of laker fans they should always be playing for rings.
Quote maybe there can be a championship parade throughout streets of LA. Not so fast -- Lets look at the other teams way above expectations. First Boston -- yes suppose to compete for Eastern conf bid but not at an 88percent clip. How about Orlando. The team best known for losing shack is now 23-14. That is more shocking
Then there is the west -- New Orleans is far more interesting news at 23-12 which is only a half game worse than lakers. Then Portland who has won 4 straight just one loss after winning 13 straight. 17-1 stretch now that is putting on a nationwide show ON the basketball court

Lakers just finished putting the N.O. Hornets where they belong. Orlando and Portland are a big surprise but that is not what the throwdown is about. This is about the Lakers so dont bring in any other teams.

First of all I will submit my arguments how I see fit. 2nd of all the season is early -- ask the Detroit Lions who were 6-2 at half way point of NFL season how things can change or the NY Mets.
As for other teams -- they are relevant because in the end they will determine if the Lakers excede expectations or are another 1st round early exit in the playoffs. If season ended today you would be playing either portland or Denver in 1st round (they are tied). Either team could send the Lakers packing. LA is only 1/2 game better then San Antonio and and NO who if season over today would be 4 and 5. Thus a one game slip and you would face Spurs in 1st round. That would be a "good bye" here is a lovely parting gift see you next year.
Finally you raised the issue of other teams and expectatons when you stated that the Lakers are putting on a nationwide show and parades.
If you were simply saying LA is improved then duh...blog about it. I took your argument which went way too far in proclaiming what LA has done and showed how others doing even better... and thus LA could be an early playoff exit which is what they were last year

Any team can be an "early playoff exit" team. Just ask the Dallas Mavericks.
And it sounds like you are a Laker hater. You are saying it is not even halfway through the season, therefore according to you, the Lakers can enter a slump. But wait, the Lakers are not the only team with games left! Any other team can also slump off!
And i dont think the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trailblazers can send the Lakers packing. They have already shown they can beat the Nuggets (2-0 in season meetings), and Portland will have matchup issues with the Lakers. Nobody can guard Bynum, Odom is a mismatch for Aldridge, Fisher has exp., and Kobe, well no necessary argument needed there.
And i am not going for an easy win. People said that the Lakers were going to be another team peaking into the top seeds in the west. im saying they have gone over that and are now looking like a team that can go deep into the playoffs. this is what i meant by excelled. but according to you they are more likely to exit out in the first round. so no, im am not going for any easy win here.

1st - just because I dont agree doesnt make me a quote hater. That is a copout. You said they have surpassed expectations and if season ended today duh all you have to do is look at record.
But by your own definition the expectations is they quote peak into the top seeds. Well you can definitavely say they have done that. half a game seperates them from 5hole and just a game or to would drop them to bottom third. Portland is the hottest team in NBA (well there is Boston).
Point is you overstated how much they have improved and when compare to how many other teams have as well then the whole scale of comparison slides. LA could be the third seed and just as likely the 7th.
You talk about beating NO but fail to mention you lost to them earlier in year so way too soon to talk about owning teams.

new orleans are a very good team but they wont go anywhere coz there bench is non existant. 1st or second round playoff loss even though i would love them to go further.

Report Offensive CommentOkay DJ then tell us how does one actually debate a topic when the clear answer is yes. Its like the homers that say Patriots are really good. Duh? So I took his argument points and went off that so there could be an argument.
kmahl. it has nothing to do with "laker haters" it has to do with an obvious statement and my opponent extending it too far in his argument. Its an 80+game season winning once against NO not matter. Of course you ignored Boston and Portland.
