Orr or Gehrig??? Gehrig or Orr???
After plenty of research, I have decided to go with Gehrig. Did you know that Gehrig only saw a limited times at plate his first two seasons, only as a pinch hitter??? He played in only 23 games his first two seasons and was not on the Yankees' 1923 World Series roster. After those two seasons he went on to play 2,130 consecutive games before his career was cut short when he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or now known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Gehrig holds many MLB records:
23 Grand Slams
1,995 runs batted in by a first baseman
8 consecutive seasons with 120+ RBI
13 consecutive seasons with 100+ RBI
1,888 runs scored by a first baseman
.447, the highest on-base percentage by a first baseman
1190, the most extra base hits by a first baseman

Report Offensive CommentWell Steveo I don't really know baseball at all. Boxing and Football are the sports I can argue but I would say Ruth over Favre and I am a lifetime Packer fan. I have to think Ruth won more titles and his records lasted an awful long time. We will see how long Brett's last but I have to put Ruth ahead of him.
buckybadger | 01/14/08, 12:00 AM
Report Offensive CommentI now know Ruth wore #3 just talking hypothetically.
buckybadger | 01/14/08, 12:02 AM
Report Offensive CommentI will say
Gehrig (again this more other people's opinion than mine, just don't know the sport well enough to argue against it.)
Favre
Orr

Report Offensive Commenti knew it owuld be a stats war...and its hard to compare baseball stats to football stats...better yet its damn near impossible....voting will probably be decided by personal opinions and popularity of the player

Report Offensive CommentGot to go Lou...the man was a capt. of a historic team, and he is an icon in sports. Lou was one of the best people and best players in any sport. I am not a Yankee fan at all, but I admire the great players they had. Farve is a hell of a player and a man, a legend in GB. It's tough...but I have to give it to Lou. They both have games played streaks, they both have an entire nation that loves to root for them, they both can be argued as one of the best in their sport, only Lou though has won so many championships and also had to retire because they named a disease after him. Advantage Lou.
