Why wouldnt they? After all da tumult that has been da Randy Moss career pre-Patriots, where else would this guy want 2 be besides catching passes from Tom Brady and competing for championships every year?

Randy is more mature now and has seen how far south one's career can go once you dont have a rocket arm QB(Culpepper) in his prime anymore throwing to you or what its like to play for a team with no QB or O-line(Raiders), so its not about the money anymore for Randy, its about the peace and prosperity, and where else on the NFL landscape is there more P&P than in New England these days?

I dont need to really make a seperate case for Asante Samuel as all that I said above applies to him as well. The guy plays for the best team in the NFL who no doubt is going to get better on D since that will be their draft focus after this year to replace some of their aging vets at linebacker, plus Asante knows the Pats are a scoring machine so its not like his defense needs to hold their opponents to 10 points or less to be able to get a win.

Staying with the Pats for ANYBODY=No-Brainer.

Where else in da NFL can Asante or Randy go 2 make their lives happier? Nowhere else=answer

Okay, yes, they want to play in New England. But, no, they won't be able to. Why?

Because. The Patriots have no money to spend. Randy Moss's contract is expired. And he will be the highest bidded on free agent probably in the history of the sport after the record setting season.

The team probably highest in the bidding would be the San Diego Chargers, who really need a wide receiver. Really bad. And they have so much money to spend it's insane!

Bottom line: Patriots don't have enough money to resign him, so they ill lose him.

Are you telling me neither guy would restructure in order to stay in the greenest of all NFL pastures at present? Are you their agent or have ties to their agent to know neither guy will take one for the team and stay for less money to remain with the best NFL team?

The Chargers just got Chris Chambers and they have Jackson, a tall TD-threat who actually caught one against Indy on Sunday so dont tell me the Chargers are going to getting into a bidding fest with Moss, but we have no idea what needs the Chargers will meet thru the draft in April.

Your bottom line is no bottom line of mine. I disagree. This debate will be decided by the Nation as always.

Sure, I think that he will leave the "greenest of all NFL Pastures at present".

The Patriots have four other legitimate receivers in Welker, Stallworth, Gaffney, and Watson, so they won't have a very high bid for Randy.

As for the Chargers, they don't have a #1 reciver who they can rely on all the time to catch balls, and Randy Moss is that type of guy. The Patriotsproved that you can have more than two good recievers this year while using 5 recievers a-lot of the time, so that eliminates your argument that they already have two good recievers.

Oh, and another reason the Chargers will be in the bidding is because they will probably want to take away the biggest threat on the Patriots after they most likely lose( not positively) lose to the Patriots so that they won't have that problem next year.

The Patriots receving success starts and ends with Moss. Without Moss, Welker wouldnt have had a sniff of the success he had playing opposite of Moss. To get rid of Moss and think they will be fine is idiotic at best. The 4 other receivers you speak of are the types of WRs that DID NOT get the Pats a ring the last two years. Moss IS the DIFFERENCE.

If the Chargers sign Randy Moss in the offseason to a huge deal I will buy you a lollipop for your Nostradomic foresight, however I am only putting up a lollipop because your scenario is laughable at best. The Chargers are not a team that gets top flight free agents. Look at their history. They get rid of guys before they get too expensive, i.e. Junior Seau and Rodney Harrison, for example so dont think they are suddenly as an organization going to go bannanas in the offseason for Moss, especially since they already got to the AFC Championship without him.

U think Randy wants to hang out in San Diego and lose the AFC to the Pats/Colts/Steelers every year? NOT! Randy realizes the big dough he has made in the past didnt mean squat if it leaded to end of the season disappointments each year with less than stellar teams. Moss=stays

Okay. Those four wide receivers were NOT the receivers that didn't get them a ring over the past two years. Three of those four receivers they acquired over the off-season: Wes Welker, Donte Stallworth, and Benjamin Watson they acquired.

Junior Seau and Rodney Harrison are not the caliber of Randy Moss.

Randy wouldn't be dissapointed in San Diego- like you said they made it to the AFC Championship without him! Imagine what they can do with him!

I rest my case.

This is a do-over TD as the original opponent never argued it so this is my next matchup and I am keeping the same topic.

January 16, 2008  11:43 AM ET

One of them will go. I would say Moss is the more likely departure.

January 16, 2008  11:44 AM ET

Can they afford to keep both though? Samuels has his rings and greener & maybe warmer pastures he might be drawn to.

Of the two, I think Samuels will be the more difficult re-signing.

January 16, 2008  11:44 AM ET

Maybe Ne will pick up Reggie Wayne, too!? :)
Continue to make haters miserable....
Oooooh aaah haaa haa ha ha

Brady & Moss are like Bubba & Forest.....Moss stays.

January 16, 2008  11:46 AM ET

Well, like Bubba & Forest up until Nam anyway.....

2008 nfl projected Salary Cap figures for all the NFL teams says that the Patriots are 25th in the league with 10.93 million dollars to spend and only 41 of 52 players under contract. There are 10 teams with 30 million plus to spend, many of which are good teams in desirable climates including the number 1 team on the list, San Diego with a cool 43 million to spend. I am a Patriots fan but I gotta say, it don't look good!

"Where else in da NFL can Asante or Randy go 2 make their lives happier? Nowhere else=answer"

Whats with all the 2s and 4s lately, and the "da"?

January 16, 2008  12:33 PM ET

i believe they had a deal with samuels saying they wouldnt put franchise tag on him if they won 11 or 12 games this year.. i believe he will be gone.. and maybe moss.. but it seems moss is now more about winning than the money

January 16, 2008  12:44 PM ET

they are going to franchise Moss and Assante is bye bye big bucks for him we all know pats philosophy,

January 16, 2008  12:54 PM ET

i will stay outta this one for now as i know to much living here in NE and listen to talk radio all day at work and i kinda now what the deal is with both players

January 16, 2008  12:54 PM ET

Ok, Ne will have to bring back Ty Law, Dieon Branch, Cory Dillion etc....
(So they can win it all next year)

January 16, 2008  12:56 PM ET

WEEI?

January 16, 2008  01:01 PM ET

one stays and one goes. no $$$ to keep both, unless someone is willing to restructure their contract liek Brady did for the Moss deal.

January 16, 2008  01:12 PM ET

i know exactley what is gonna happen i will comment when TD is done

January 16, 2008  01:15 PM ET

Oh the suspense is too much....

January 16, 2008  01:21 PM ET

--------------------------------------------->

1 of them is leaving

For sure

January 16, 2008  01:22 PM ET

Moss probably since they have Welker, Stallworth, and Gaffney.......Plus they need to become more balanced........If they want Brady to have a long career........All it takes is 1 overeager DL or blitzing LB to take a cheap shot at Brady and an injury to start affecting his chances at a long career

January 16, 2008  01:24 PM ET

My guess is if Samuel leaves, teams attack their secondary big time next year

January 16, 2008  01:28 PM ET

I guess it depends on the Pats salary cap status, they will have to give both of these guys, esp. Moss a huge payday to keep them under contract. That's traditionally the problem with SB winners, every starter wants a pay raise. I expect they'll both want to return but money talks.
