I picked the Pacers over the Nets because the Pacers are doing well. I don't really have the much confidence in the Pacers.

They meet four times yet, but I don't think that the Nets are going to be good enough to make it there.

The Nets need to win some games and they don't have great players. Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, and Richard Jefferson. Those are the good players.

Jason Kidd is averaging a double-double. Yes that is good, but he is mostly the only one doing much. They don't have good talent down low because Kidd is leading the team in rebounds. Since that is happening, I don't think that the Nets will make it to the playoffs.

The Pacers have Mike Dunleavy, leading the team with 17.5 points per game. They have Jeff Foster leading the team with 8.3 rebounds per game. They have Jermaine O'Neal who is leading the team with 2.24 blocks per game. Jamaal Tinsley is averaging 8.5 assists per game and is leading the team.

The Pacers have a good overall team. They don't have just one or two players dominating. They have 4 players leading 4 different categories.

Danny Granger is averaging 17 points per game. He is also contributing a lot to the Pacers.

More coming

So Kidd is the only one contributing, huh? Ok, here are five more successful players and key statistic(s) for that player:

Vince Carter: 21.2 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 4.8 apg(second leading scorer, 2.7 ppg more than the Pacers' leading scorer)

Richard Jefferson- 23.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg

Sean Williams- 1 block every 10.45 minutes(O'Neal-1 block every 14.01 minutes), 1 point every 2.82 minutes

Josh Boone- 1 rebound every 3.42 minutes

Jamaal Magloire- 1 rebound every 3.11 minutes

So, there are 6 contributers on the Nets.

The Nets average 1.1 turnovers per game less than the Pacers, .5 more assists per game, and a higher assist/turnover ratio. In other words, they take care of the ball better.

Oh, and if they were in the same division, the Nets would be 2 games ahead of the Pacers. And, it's all about winning to get to the playoffs!

Your turn.

P.S. Jason Kidd is a GREAT, not good player. 1.4 rpg away from a triple-double AVERAGE, that's great.

The Pacers come closer to their opponent per game than the Nets.

Pacers:

103.6 pts/game

opponents:

105.0 pts/game

Nets:
93 pts per game

opponents:

97.8 pts per game

The Pacers come closer to their opponent and if you do that in more games, you are going to win more games. You will win more games because you are closer and so when you are closer, it is easier to win.

The Pacers have three other players that are good players also.

Jamaal Tinsley:
13.4 pts/game
4 rebounds/game

Jermaine O'Neal:
15.3 pts/game
7.3 rebounds/game
2.5 assists/game

Troy Murphy:
10.3 pts/game
6.9 rebounds/ game

Those areo some good players and they help the Pacers a lot.

Just because the Nets average 1.1 less turnovers per game, doesn't really do a lot.

The Nets aren't as good as the Pacers, and the Nets will not be making the playoffs.

Ok, let's look at probability of the wins for the rest oof the season according to strength of schedule.

Games left against teams with 5-10 wins: NJ-3;IND-3.

Games left against teams with 10-15 wins:NJ-8;IND-7.

Games left against teams with 16-20 wins:NJ-11;IND-16.

The rest of the schedule is made up of good teams. So, basicaly, my point is this: the Nets have an easier schedule, which will most likely lead to more wins. Wins get you to the playoffs.

And happy voting.
