You think Tippet is better....for some strange reason. Maybe its cause he was a Patsie and you got that pic of Tommy Boy on you avatar. Maybe you smoke too much crack??? Who knows..
Thomas was 1,000,000,000,000 times the LB that Tippet was. Tippet couldnt even carry Thomas' jock strap

Thomas was indeed a great LB - But no way was he the LB Tippett was. I think you're going with a sentimental post mortem vote.
If you want to argue this reasonably, then fine. But I see no need or namecalling or insults.

Dude....My bad. I was just flabergasted that you thought that tippet was a better LB. My sincerest appologies. Anyone who knows me, knows I dont call names or make comments like that....So once agian, I apologize

Tippett was a 2rd pick in 82
Tippet averaged .662 sacks per game. Thats 4th in the NFL. Had 30 multiple sack games out of 151.
He was the Players Association Linebacker of the Year 3 years in a row. Defensive player of the year once and UPI player of the year -All AFC 5 yrs in a row.
He lined up against the strong side when pass rushers would usually line up against the weaker side.. He was voted to the 1980's all NFL with guys like Singletary and Taylor. The 80's NFL and the 90's NFL were two different games...
This is like apples to oranges.

Very true, Tippett was selected to the all 80's team with players like Singletary and Taylor....But Thomas was selected to the 90's all decade team. Had DT not died (RIP) there is no telling what his stats would look like.
Sure Tippett got all the accomplishments while the AFC was like the NFC's little Brother...The AFC did not have the talen the NFC had in the 80's. That's got all the AFC awards...There was no other LB's worth a darn in the AFC beside's Clay Matthews (LOL)
From 1980 to 1990 only 2 AFC players led the NFL in sacks. One is a roided out Mark G. The other is derrick Thomas. Tippett never led the NFL in tackles, sacks, PD's...Or Anything for that matter.
For the duration of Tippetts career.... The pats D was ranked in the top 15 in the NFL only 4 times.
5 times the Pats D was ranked 20th or above.
Its pretty simple....Tippett was a great LB in a HUGE TALENT DROUGHT for the AFC. He would have been a average LB in the NFC during those times

And 3 times, the Patriots went to the playoffs with Tippett and had one AFC title and one SB appearance. (no comment)
How many conference titles did the Chiefs win with Thomas? They won the AFC West a couple of times. Never made it further than that.
And dont start with the RIP about how if he HAD lived , what his records COULD be. The fact is, you have no way of knowing that. He could have shown up at camp and broken his leg getting out of the whirlpool and his career would be over. Shoulda coulda woulda. Don't inflate the mans stats because he died.
And again, I must repeat, Tippett lined up on the strong side, Thomas on the weak. Why wouldnt he have more sacks, forced fumbles etc? Especially w/the off. schemes of those decades..
I am not disputing the fact that Thomas was a great LB. Or that he doesnt belong in the HOF.
Your stmnt was that he was a BETTER LB than Tippett and in each of their respective times they were considered one of the best.
Again, apples to oranges. Thats why I hate the Tom Brady is the best QB ever TD's. You cannot compare TB to Marino or Montana or Unitas or even Fouts. Different era different offenses, different defenses. Its impossibl

Try listening to the same thing over and over from people less likely to be appreciated for their sarcasm - After a while, it gets really really old and used. You know how many Pats haters ask me each day how many of Brady's b-astard kids I have? It gets really really old.
Reading something and hearing someone say it laughing at the same time, are two different things. Alot of the "humor" or "sarcasm" gets lost when its the written word.

Well i will wait to vote, I am curious if kp has a good reason for thinking that. But agree with goodell that it didn't seem will illed, he was being a smart a$%. People need to chill out on here. If you can't joke on an internet website devoted to sports when someone makes a outrageous claim where can you joke. Look at the numbers and impact that each guy made. I guarantee you 95 out of 100 sports writers and followers would agree, if not more.
If people want to make outlandish claims they should back it up.
