Bynums out for another 7 weeks.
Ariza may be out for the season.
Mihm will miss another 1-2 weeks.
Radman will be out another 1-2 weeks.
Their roster also includes Critt and Coby Karl, 2 guards that rarely play.
And Kwame just apologized to the fans for how bad he has played.
Lakers are desperate right now. They need to make some trades/signs.

So by making moves, is that like when they HAD to trade Kobe before the season started?
How on earth can they get a quick trade or signing that would really improve this team? There isn't anyone expected to have a fire sale just yet, so to get an impact player it will cost you 2+ role players or more. When you have people out you don't want to thin out your bench any more.
So maybe you want them to sign someone, yeah go pick up a guy that has made it half way through a season without any other team even offering him a spot on their roster. There is a reason that these people are currently unemployed.
Teams that run out and try and make quick fixes all of the time are rarely successful, just look at the Knicks.
Truth is the Lakers have put together a solid season thus far 26-12 isn't bad, they have a great deal of young talent. Most of the injuries are minor, and as long as the guys watching the game don't include Kobe they will be just fine.
Sure if they can get a great player cheep then go for is, but that isn't likley so I wouldn't go rush a deal b/c a couple of guys will miss 2 weeks.

They have Kwame freaking Brown as their starting center right now. Have you seen this guy play? He missed 2 wide-open dunks, an open layup, and had 7 turnovers in his last game. Laker fans were even booing him he played so horribly.
Turiaf and Odom are their only other bigs. Thats it. They have 3 bigs, and all 3 of them are really meant to play PF. They need to do something to fortify that position.
The Lakers meanwhile have about 7 guards... (Fisher, Kobe, Farmar, Critt, Carl, Ariza and Walton)
So your saying the Lakers should just sit tight and rotate Kwame, Odom and Turiaf at the 4 and 5 spots for the next 2+ months until Bynum gets back? What happens if one of them gets hurt?

Why fix something that isn't broken?
This team is sitting with a 26-12 record with this current staff.
Sure you may have a good amount of G-F's on the team, but why go out and trade these young guys to fix up a team that is doing well?
Chemistry is a HUGE deal in the NBA which is why MOST of the teams that are successful do not mess with their team chemistry.
Like I said if a solid big man falls into your lap so be it, but I'm telling you that to pick up anyone significant it is going to cost you. Big men are at a premium in the NBA, you are not going to find a team that will say "Sure we will take your 3rd string PG, Here is our starting C." Even Darko is making big money, DARKO!
Your best bet is not to try and fix this team, you may fix them right out of playoff contention. Just keep doing what you are doing and work with Brown until Bynum gets back.

Forfeited Turn
BSchwartz07 said 01/22, 04:57 PM
Well, I can't really respond to no turn, but looking at the NBA today making a move for a big man IS a major move. Teams will not just give these guys away. For now the Lakers need to play with a slightly smaller lineup, and get their less talented big men more time on the floor to develop.

I'm guessing the outcome of this will be the same as Super Bowl 32.

Report Offensive CommentVote to BSchwartz. Losing Bynum is devestating but to make a major move right now isn't necessary. The Lakers are going to struggle for a little while but they will right their ship.
