You guys hear it every year in the offseason for like the last 5 years, but this is the year.........
ARIZONA CARDINALS!
Arizona plays in by far the weakest division in the NFL-NFC West, so gaining ground within the division is the LEAST OBSTACLE for any other team in any other division to leap frog the leader and get a playoff spot.
Now lets admit this division is putrid and isnt worthy of one more spot in the playoffs than they are given automatically for their division winner, so lets not kid ourselves and think AZ is getting a wildcard.
AZ will win the West next year. Seattle has a grandpa at RB, a QB past his prime in Matt Hasselbeck, a defense good but not great.
Now lets look at AZ. Great veteran leadership at QB with Kurt Warner to further groom Matt Leinert next year. Outstanding WRs in Boldin and Fitzgerald. A vastly underated D and a HUGE homefield advantage in Phoenix where they took out 2 playoff teams there this year in Seattle and Pittsburgh, as well as beat a game Cleveland Browns team at home.
That homefield is a legit advantage.
The rest of this division: The 3-win Lambs & the chaos that has become the 49ers franchise. Division is RIPE 4 taking

Cass, nice call on the giants beating the packers !!!
I'm gonna go the same div. but say that the Rams are my pick. i'm short on time because of work so i'll make my argument asap.
Cassidy's House: '67 GTOing said 01/22, 08:24 PM
I dont see how you can say the Lambs. They won a whopping total of 3 games this past year and while they did have some injuries on offense, their defense was pathetic and got abused weekly.
There was a damn good reason Arizona finished with a better record than the Lambs this year and IT WAS NOT BECAUSE OF INJURIES!
Bulger lost virtually every game he started and Steven Jackson was a shadow of himself both before and after injury. The RAMS FINISHED WORSE THEN THE OFFENSIVELY CHALLENGED 49ers!
No way can I imagine any scenario that allows for the Rams to make the playoffs next year. None. Zip. Zero. Nada. Not happening even in Ed Reeds wildest dreams.
Since you put up zero argument for your team other than listing their name, I dont see the need to abuse my keyboard further.

They had a ton of injuries right out of the gate. I mean, they lost Pace right away and the rest of the line looked like an ER unit. They had multiple guys on IR and had to go get linemen off the street to fill those voids.
Plus, they lost Jackson for an extended period of time and Bulger was banged up too.
They play in the same soft conference as the Cards, too.
Warner will be hard pressed to duplicate the success he had this year, next year. Leinart, well, the jury is still out. There's talk of Larry Fitzgerald being moved, too. I'm just not sold on them yet, sorry.

Getting healthy will get the Rams back to maybe 8-8, but certainly they will not be division winner-worthy next year. Their defense just isnt going to be able to stop people and keep games close enough where they can win more than half their games. Even if they did, that would be a five game improvement over the previous season and thus a successful turnaround in the minds of the Lamb followers and the organization.
Sounds like you are making a lot of excuses Reed for a team that has zero chance at sniffing the division title next season.
That same "soft" division the Rams played in last year abused them.
Well considering I picked first and picked Arizona, what choice did you have Reed when it came to being sold on my selection? Thats right, zero. Had I picked the Rams you wouldnt have been sold on them either.
LOL

who said they would win the division ? i just said they would make the playoffs.
that's all i gotta say, it's not worth arguing anymore because you're clearly going to win, later.

Report Offensive CommentRams got issues there- but if they get a good pick they might be ok next year- they are MUCH better than thier record.
But Arizona is the better team- on paper.

The Cardinals are picked every preseason to compete for the division title, but always manage to come up short. It seems to make sense in such a weak division. I will need to think about this.

Report Offensive CommentI think Coach Wis has them on the right track. As Matt L. matures into a leader, he'll be a great compliment to the other highly skilled members of the offense. Talent-wise, they have the young skill-players to out-Ram the Rams and an improving defense as well. Vote to cassidy.
