With all the hype coming out of USC, Bush hasn't lived up to half that hype. He's been outplayed by fellow RB's out of the class of 2006. He only averages 3.7 ypc and his longest run of his career is 22 yards

Its way to early to say this and looking at his stats if only half of the equasion.
First off lets not talk about Ryan leaf ok.
Bush was the number 2 pick in the draft for a team that needed an exlosive player and some one the city could rally around. I know the team was the rally point and they also had Duece a fan favorite, Brees and great QB, and Horn another fan favorite but Reggie brought a swager to the saints they hadnt seen in while.
He has been out run by some of his fellow running draft picks but he istn the main runner in N.O. and wasnt drafted to be. The team talked to Duece before drafting reggie letting him know that his job and the pound it up the middle guy was safe. In his rookie year he lead the league in running back receptions over guys like Westbrook and Lt. who often catch 70 passes a game.
Reggie brings this offense another weapon in the passing game as well as a dekoy in the pass and run situations. He draws coverage away form receivers and forces teams to bring a man out of the box when he goes in motion on run plays.
At usc reggie wasnt the prototype up the middle back no did he just stay i the back field.
He runs catches and returns

ok i guess your done
Ryan Leaf
Brian Bosworth
Akili Smith
Heath Shuler
Ki-Jana Carter
Chris Weinke,
Eric Couch,
All of these guys no longer play in the NFL and all had very short careers do you really think Bush will have a short career? I dont i think that he will produce enough for the Saints to stay on the team and start in some capacity at least. He is a great receiver and you cant argue his speed and versitilty.
I agree that he hasnt yet lived up to potential but i can guarentee that without injury he will be in the league playing and contrubiting a good amount.
He will never be LT. or Jim Brown or Emmit Smith but he will finish his career with enough rushing and receiving yards to be considered a good draft choice.
You assume that N.O. drafted him and expected him to be an every down back and they didnt he was drafted to be a versitle player used in many different situations much like Jones Drew who plays in a run heavy offense and has a much better line to run behind even he isnt the featured back.
Remember Bush was a ROY canadiate is rookie year so in two season he isnt a bust just yet.
In two years he has over 2,200 yards just on offense

I think a better TD would have been LenDale White vs. Reggie. I take Lendale. LENDALE!

It is pretty mean to call guys drafted in the 3rd or 4th rounds "busts".

He is the biggest bust of probably the last four drafts. History, eh. Need more time. If he sucks next year, he has to be in the conversation.

Everyone says that it's too early to declare him a bust. Can some one tell me how much time is need to be declared as a bust. Being a decoy only works for so long, until the defense knows that the person really isn't about s&!t.

How can people say that he is a bust he was in his second year of play and had an o-line that for much of the season was injured and not playing well. You want to look at Jones Drew, Addai, or LenDale white but they are completely different players than bush and in different situations. With a healty Duce McCallister what would you do with Drew, Addai or White they would be in back up roles and not see to much of the field. Bush is without a doubt the best receiver of the group and as good as Jones Drew at retuning. He wasnt drafted the be the franchise back he was drafted to catch passes and create space for a bigger tougher back like McCallister. Lets see the guy play more than one not great season before he cast off to the dogs.

Now im not saying that McCallister is a better back than Jones Drew or Addai at this point but would either one of theses guys have played much in there rookie years behind a healthy McCallister like he was in there rookie years. Addai didnt have as good of a rookie year as bush neither did White who almost got cut. No they all had a better year than bush this year but that was becasue bush was asked to play in a different role than he was drafted to.

Its been not enough time to say Bush is a bust.
And cudos for whoever said Ki-Jana Carter was a bust. He was huge at Penn State, and flopped big time. But yeah, I think everyone agrees Ryan Leaf is the biggest bust of all time.
