Cleveland spent so much for Brady Quinn...so why not play him? He looked good in preseason..and he looked good in the 1 drive in the regular season. They gave up their 1st round pick to get him so they should trade D.A. and get it back. I know Derek stepped up after the trade of Frye but I give most the credit to the O-Line. Derek is just very inconsistent.

Yea, the Browns spent so much on Quinn, which is why they shouldn't rush him. I thinks it's a safer bet to give him the second string job behind a proven QB, than rush him into his second year with only three quarters of experience and expect him to lead this team deep into the playoffs. Derek is not as inconsistent as you think. Don't get me wrong, he was inconsistent at times, but most of the year he was a top 5 QB in the league. His teammates also back him. One in particular, Joe Jurevicius who said that DA was the one that had done a great year all year long and he shouldn't lose his job for that.

I totally agree with your last statement, if Cleveland keeps him he should start, he deserves it. I just know he over powers his throws a lot and under throws a lot...Don't get me wrong, he is 10X better than Charlie Frye. Anyways they need help on the defensive side of the ball, and if they get a 1st rounder out of Anderson that would help get a 1st round defensive player. Their O-line stepped up this year (even without Bentley at center) and I guarantee they would protect Brady just as well as they did Derek. D.A. did do fabulous this year so I guarantee they could get a top 10 pick if not a top 5 which but be a key point in the defense. Everyone knows that the defense kept them out of the playoffs.(don't get me wrong...it wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if they keep him but I would totally understand if they trade him too)

I wouldn't count on this year being the draft that they should trade their starting QB to get a 1st round pick eventually getting a defensive player because unlike the past two years I think this draft doesnt have as much talent. But, they could trade some old veterans away to get a draft pick, along with some solid backups and a low draft pick. I wouldnt know cause I'm not a GM. I wouldnt risk trading away DA on a gamble to see if Quinn is a goof fit yet. I think the best thing for them would to be is to see how he is in training camp and don't risk doing something they will regret. This year the Browns will have 2 important tasks: One, getting deep in the playoffs. And second, renewing the great rivalry that is Steelers-Browns. Both, I think the Browns cannot do with Quinn until at least another year. Plus, if you look at the schedule, I think it is too tough for Brady to come in on his first year of being the starter with these kind of tough teams and tough places. Id DA were to fail this year, their schedule next year would be the perfect opportunity for Quinn to come in. He could learn from DA's mistakes, build off of his talent, all the while, he would have an easier schedule

Cleveland just offered D.A. $2.52 million to keep him out of RFA. What did he receive last year 600K Maybe? I just cant see paying an extra 2 million dollars with like you said a tougher schedule next year...everyone said at the beginning of the year that Frye was the Franchise QB...then what...FLOP...same with the other 699 QB's they have spent gobs of money for. Brady has learned a lot from Ken Dorsey who is more of a QB coach than a 3rd stringer...save the money.....pick all defense this year...goto the playoffs....win the BIG SHOW

Ok, I thought about it, I'm not going to accept the draw and here's why. If the Browns were to trade Anderson, that's just another major change in this organization, which is way too many since they've cam back to the league in '99. They had Couch, which didn't work out, Holcomb, Garcia, Dilfer, McNown, and them Frye. Then we go to the other most important position on the team, the coach. Chris Palmer and Butch Davis, who ultimately distroyed the team. Now they have Romeo Crennel and Derek Anderson. Romeo has done maybe the greatest job for the Browns turning them from 6 or 7 years of losing teams, into contenders again for fans who absolutely deserve it. And what they don't deserve is to have maybe their now franchise QB to be traded to bring in an unsure thing in Brady Quinn. If anyone, it's Quinn who should be traded, not saying that I think he should be traded.

if you spend the money why not start him? her has to get in there sooner or later...i really don't see any benefit from waiting another season...especially one were the browns can make the post season...if he struggles early let him sit back on the bench and watch more, but you have to give him the shot to play...

You actually haven't paid all that much for Quinn at the 22nd overall (still money, but not as much as say Phillip Rivers who sat for two years)...let him sit longer and learn while you have Derek Anderson play out a two to three year contract.

Stevo, with their schedule, I don;t think the Browns can take that chance. If Brady were to fail, then put DA back in, I think their season would already be in jeopardy.

I know. You offer him the highest RFA tender (forcing another team to trade two 1st rounders to sign him) and then after this upcoming season you offer him another year if you think Brady Quinn isn't ready or Anderson has another phenomenal season.

"Cleveland just offered D.A. $2.52 million to keep him out of RFA. What did he receive last year 600K Maybe?" -Browns_Fan
This is untrue. He IS an RFA and they offered him the highest possible tender that can be offered to an RFA (2.52 million)...

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Browns have made contract offers to quarterback Derek Anderson and running back Jamal Lewis, key players they hope to keep off the free-agent market. Anderson, who won 10 games and threw 29 touchdown passes in his first season as a starter, is scheduled to become a restricted free agent on Feb. 29. If the Browns can't lock him up with a long-term deal before then, they can tender him with a one-year contract worth $2.52 million

First of all to get just a first round pick for a QB would be just insane. You can't win a TD because your argument doesn't make sense to real life football. It might work in a video game but you keep both QBs right now. Quinn isn't proven at all and if was ready to start he wouldn't fallen so far in the draft. They can easily afford to keep both since the salary cap is larger and it will continue to grow in the future. A little insurance for injury is also a good thing.

why trade a 1st round pick for someone and sit them for 2 or 3 years....

Browns_Fan: look at the Chargers, they sat Rivers for two years while a very good player in Drew Brees was their starter. They then released Brees and made Rivers the starter...
...again, Rivers was drafted MUCH higher in the 1st round and as such made far more money sitting on the bench than Quinn will make sitting on the bench...
