Kevin Youkilis of the Boston Red Sox is undoubtedly the hottest hitter in baseball right now. In a little over a month he has raised his batting average from .243 to .354. He is batting .435 in his last 10 games in 46 AB's. He is currently riding a 20 game hitting streak (started on May 5). In that streak he has 12 doubles, 5 HR, one of which was a solid inside the parker', and 19 RBI's. He is hitting .408 in the month of May to start tonight.


Youkilis has been hot, but one player has been even hotter. In the last month, Magglio Ordonez is batting .390 with 9 HRs and 26 RBIs. Ordonez has the power that Youkilis just does not have. This helps him be a better run producer and a hotter hitter than Yoooooooooouk.

HR- Ordonez better by 4
RBI- Ordonez better by 6
Runs- Ordonez better by 3
BB- Ordonez better by 5
Total Bases- Ordonez better by 10
OPS- Ordonez better by 0.148


Stats are true but that isnt what the throwdown is exactly about. Your stats are all stats for the 2007 season. Although I do agree with you that Mags is a great player and is doing well this year he hasnt been as hot as Youkilis. Since the start of May Youkilis has raised his average 65 points from .289 to .354 and Ordonez has only raised his from 17 points .340 to .357. Youkilis also has 7 more hits in the month.


No, my stats are for the last month dude. Trust me, I got it from a fantasy sports website which sorted the stats for the last month. Ordonez couldn'r raise his average much because it was ALREADY HIGH! In addition, though, he has more home runs and is a better RUN PRODUCER. I think in hitting, producing runs is equally as important. Notice that while Youk might have more hits, Ordonez has a BETTER OPS because he gets on base more. He is a more patient hitter and thus walks more, which helps his team on offense even more.


Youkillis walks a lot too and the main reason he isnt a huge run producer like Mag is because the people before him have trouble getting on base (Coco and Lugo). The fact that his average was already high somewhat solidifies my point. Youkilis has been so hot he has been able to raise a borderline average to an average that gets him 5th in the league. I'm not saying that Magglio is having a bad month or that hes not hot, because he is. Im probably gonna lose this one because of stats which is stupid. Isnt it funny that if you say something to demoralize your opponent you get every one on your side? Funny how that works.


The thing is Ordonez is batting .390 and Youk is batting around .402 for the month. This is not that much of a difference when you consider the greater run production, more walks, and more runs in general that Ordonez has. If you wanna talk about people around him, maybe Youk's average is that high because he has Ortiz and Manny in the lineup and so he gets good pitches to hit. Look, there are a lot of variables and Youk is nice, but the stats clearly show that Ordonez is the hotter hitter.

cjbosox i love the picture but the stats show that ordonez has been doing better..im not gonna take anything away from youk tho cuz he has been very impressive of late.
