Sports 24/7 tourney Round 3 - Which NFL team that finished first in their division has the best shance of missing the playoffs next season?

Pick your team first and we'll do arguments in round 2 and 3. My choice is the Seattle Seahawks.

I'll try and keep it imple because we're all in super Bowl overload mode...

Let's look at the Hawks...Shawn Alexander is finished. He looked a lot like Eddie George in his last year. Slow footed and just not the same. Mo Morris is not exactly star material. Hasselbeck has proven to be the proverbial "he is what he is" QB. not bad, but not great either. The offense is sliding downhill fast.

The real problem is they play in what has been the worst division in the NFL, at least lately...but that can all change. The Rams were hampered by injuries to their biggest offensive weapons...The Cardinals are always the sleeper pick in the preseason, but they are young and really starting to gel.

The reality is this division has no real chance of sending anyone but the division winner to the playoffs, and Seattle could easily finish 3rd next year.


Look at the Bucanners. If the Saints get their act together next year, they could win the division. And that would mean Tampa Bay would have to fight for the wild card with the Giants or Cowboys, Redskins, Vikings, and maybe even Cardinals.

The Bucs would have to win their division to guarentee a playoff spot, it would be risky to try for wildcard. Seattle is in an easy division that they could win. Who else can knock the Hawks off?
