pick 1st,argue 2,3

Wilt Chamberlain Lakers

I'll take Kareem Abdul-Jabbar of the Bucks/ Lakers- Please read arguments- I have reasons!

Wilt was a beast 7-1,275lbs.
he also averaged 30.1 ppg and 22.9 rpg, while Kareem averaged 24.6 ppg and 11.2 rpg
only player to score 4,000 points in a season, and highest season scoring average (50.4)
holds the single game scoring record with 100 points, most rebounds in a game (55),and most consecutive field goals (18)
more reasons to come

Okay, numbers lie when you play in the era that Wilt did, compared to Kareem's era: In Wilt's era, there was:

Bill Russell

Bob Pettit

Oscar Robertson

Jerry West (but he was very young at the time)

That's about it for that era.

But for Kareem's era, there was:

Rick Barry

John Havliceck

Jerry West

Nate Archibald

Elvin Hayes

Julius Erving

Bob McAdoo

George Gervin

Despite all these other quality players, Kareem still managed to set the all-time record for scoring and rebounding. That's pretty good, in my opinion.

Happy voting! Thanks for reading.

Wilt isn't known for having his best play in LA, his best play was for the Sixers.

February 2, 2008  11:20 PM ET

Chamberlin best ever ok... waiting on your argument
NO MJ?

February 3, 2008  10:52 AM ET

No vote, unless it was agreed jordan couldn't be counted. If not you kids might want to watch a lttle nba classic.

February 3, 2008  11:04 AM ET

Was Jordan not an option?

February 3, 2008  11:06 AM ET

Best ever

1. MJ (will be LJ when he retires)
2. Bill Russell
3. Wilt Chamberlain

Shaq is the most dominating player ever.

February 3, 2008  11:09 AM ET

will be LJ when he retires)

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahhahahah

February 3, 2008  11:09 AM ET

nope, it looks like this:

1. MJ
2. Bill Russell
3. Magic Johnson

February 3, 2008  11:10 AM ET

nick, it wouldn't be THAT far'fetched to say that LJ is the best player ever right now

February 3, 2008  11:13 AM ET

Nick you know whats funnier than that?

THE COWBOYS LOSING TO THE GIANTS!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

February 3, 2008  11:20 AM ET

wow, dawgee fresh, did you watch last years finals. I'm not sure was lebron hurt or did he just lay a unbelievable egg? I don't care who the opponent and at what time in his career and who his teammates were, jordan never ever ever ever ever ever laid an egg in the playoffs, ever ever ever. To compare him to jordan is a diservice to his airness and just shows how bad people want someone to play at his level. Jordan will never be surpassed. No one will ever combine his talent, confidence, DRIVE TO WIN, teamwork, and just all around ability to play at a whole other level when the playoffs began. One game does not make you jordan, as he(mj) said, you have to be able to play like that for the entire playoffs, for every single game.

February 3, 2008  11:21 AM ET

ef, that is mean and true and funny.
haha

I will now go cry myself to sleep, thanks.

February 3, 2008  11:23 AM ET

I had to do it nick. You cant be dissing my boy LJ like that.

"Jordan will never be surpassed."

Thats what they said about Babe Ruth's HRs. They never thought anyone else would even come relatively close.

ALL records are broken.

February 3, 2008  11:24 AM ET

I dont know how EVERYBODY thinks Bill Russel is "better" than Wilt Chaimberlain. Yes, Bill Russel had the most successful career ( 11 championships). But that is mainly based on how good your team is.

Bill Russel

44% 22.5 RBS 4.3 AST. 15.1 PPG

Wilt Chamberlain

.54% 23 RBS 4.4 AST 30.1 PPG

There stats are basically the same except Wilt has a much higher field goal % and TWICE AS MANY POINTS. Wilt Wins.

February 3, 2008  11:26 AM ET

BY CHEATERS!!!!!!
Babe ruth was no where near MJ's level as an athlete and only tiger has ever had a drive near mj's.

You can't be dissing my boy jordan like that.

One trivia question. From LJ's draft class who has an NBA Finals MVP?

February 3, 2008  11:27 AM ET

Keysta, numbers lie.

Does the number 11 ring a bell?

How about BEST defender of all time?

February 3, 2008  11:27 AM ET

D Wade

February 3, 2008  11:28 AM ET

Keysta, you cant judge players by 4 stat catagories. Russell basically is the best defender of all time.

February 3, 2008  11:30 AM ET

Yeah cause when wade was their he had the ability to go the next level and had a little help from the refs.

February 3, 2008  11:31 AM ET

Nick come on man. His name is Shaq Diesal and he is the most dominating center of all time. Im SURE if Lebron had Shaq he would have a ring too.
