SoccerNation Championship- Build the best Champions League Bracket possible assuming that the bracket stays true, which it doesn't.

Here is how it looks: I'll put the team that I think will win, then the loser on the other side.

Round of 16:
Liverpool over Inter
Chelsea over Olympiakos
Real Madrid over Roma
FC Porto over Schalke
AC Milan over Arsenal
Barcelona over Celtic
Sevilla over Fenerbache
Manchester United over Lyon

Quarterfinals:
Liverpool over Chelsea
Real over Porto
Milan over Barca
Man. U over Sevilla

Semi-Finals:
Liverpool over Real
Man. U over Milan

Final:
Man. U over Liverpool

I know some of those can't happen, but this is the best that we can do. Good luck Bigalke. Arguments to come in second and third turns.

I see what you are getting at with this, Keeper... here's my take on how this would play out in bracket format:

OCTOFINALS:
Inter Milan over Liverpool
Chelsea over Olympiakos
Real Madrid over Roma
FC Porto over Schalke
Arsenal over AC Milan
Barcelona over Celtic
Sevilla over Fenerbahce
Manchester United over Lyon

QUARTERFINALS:
Inter Milan over Chelsea
Real Madrid over Porto
Barcelona over Arsenal
Manchester United over Sevilla

SEMIFINALS:
Inter Milan over Real Madrid
Barcelona over Manchester United

FINAL:
Barcelona over Inter Milan

Now I turn the floor over to my formidable opponent, Keeper for the opening arguments of the SoccerNation Championship...

OK, I think I'll talk about the two differences in the Round of 16, or as you call it, the Octofinals.

First off is Liverpool v. Inter, which will happen (check your local SoccerNet listings). I know that Liverpool's last stretch hasn't been the greatest, but you have to remember, it's the Champions League. Besides AC Milan, Liverpool have been the most consistent in the UCL, and I don't see it any differently. Remember how Liverpool had to fight just to get here? I don't think all that work will go without a win in this round. Inter have seemed unstoppable this year, but I just see Liverpool somehow steering around them.

Then it is AC Milan v. Arsenal. This match should be epic, especially if Milan are still on the roll they are now. The reason I chose AC is simple. Of late, they have been playing great soccer, well on the defensive side of things. I just finished watching them, and the offence was off. But that will come to a team that has the big names. As I said the D has been stellar and I think it can and will continue. Arsenal are too young. They aren't quite experienced enough to get to past the defending champs. Milan will find a way to contain Fabregas

I respect where you went with your reasoning, Keeper... it is simply that it is too rooted in historical understandings of the clubs in question and lacks a respect for current form...

Inter d. Liverpool - Let's look at these two clubs' records:

(format: win-draw-loss, goals for-goals against)

INTER
League - 16-5-0, 44-13
UCL - 5-0-1, 12-4
TOTAL - 21-5-1, 56-17

LIVERPOOL
League - 11-10-3, 40-17
UCL - 3-1-2, 18-5
TOTAL - 14-11-5, 58-22

Both squads are good, but Inter finds ways to win where Liverpool draws. Liverpool may have a history of success in the Champions League, but they haven't been as consistent THIS YEAR...

Now Arsenal d. AC Milan... same breakdown:

ARSENAL
League - 18-6-1, 52-18
UCL - 4-1-1, 14-4
TOTAL - 22-7-2, 66-22

AC MILAN
League - 9-6-5, 32-16
UCL - 4-1-1, 12-5
TOTAL - 13-7-6, 44-21

Again, AC Milan is one of the most illustrious squads in European Champions Cup/League history... but, while they have equivalent form to Arsenal in UCL record, their goal differential is weaker... & their respective league forms indicate that the Gunners are much stronger than the Italians...

Both Inter & Arsenal will advance... unless you can prove otherwise, Keeper?
