Think about it.

Randy Moss is probably going to want to go to a different team because he isn't getting payed enough. Donte Stallworth has an $8 million option bonus that the Patriots are unlikely to pay. Rosevelt Colvin has a $7.6 million salary cap that the Patriots are probably not going to pay.Asante samuel probably isn't coming back.Bruschi and seau are going to pondor retirement.

I got some of my information from http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/38051

Let's assume for a second that all 6 players you mention leave (not likely) how exactly does that constitute a "break up"? NFL rosters consist of 53 players.

Now. Randy Moss is probably going to want to go to a different team? And you base this on what, exactly? He has repeatedly said the EXACT OPPOSITE of this. Is it possible he'll demand top dollar and the Pats refuse to pay? Sure. But if he's sincere when he says he wants to stay in New England, is reasonable about a contract, and Tom Brady has anything to say about it, Randy very well could finish his career with the Pats.

Stallworth won't be gone because of any roster bonus. Just like Moss, if he's reasonable and wants to remain that can be negotiated away. Teams do it every year.

Why is Samuel not coming back? Perhaps the team can't afford to keep both he AND Moss, but they can certainly keep one of them, and creative cap management might allow both to stay.

Neither Bruschi nor Seau has given any public indication as to what their plans are where retirement is concerned.

There is nothing, at this point, that gives any credence to the T&R article you cite as basis for this TD. Just pointless speculation.

Thats why I think Moss isnt going to stay there.

If the Pats want to keep Stallworth and Colvin, they aren't going to have that much money. A lot of football players want a lot of money.

Nobody is made of money.

Oh, and why do I think they are going to retire? Because Seau has been in the NFL for more than ten years. I dont know how long Bruschi has been playing but its been a while.

Just the Patriots don't have enough money. They have a lot of it, don't getme wrong but they can't keep everybody,

And especially with the draft. They have to have enough Salary Cap to pay the players they get from the draft.

As my arguement above^

"If the Pats want to keep Stallworth and Colvin, they aren't going to have that much money."

And how much money is that, exactly? Without providing some evidence of their cap situation or knowing what their priorities might be, how do you know what they can or can't afford to do?

"Because Seau has been in the NFL for more than ten years. I dont know how long Bruschi has been playing but its been a while. "

Wow. Let me make your argument on Seau for you...he announced his retirement two years ago, but changed his mind when the Pats called. His stated reason for staying was to chase a ring. He didn't get said ring this year, hence he may very well decide to give it another shot next year. Bruschi is no spring chicken, but at 34 he very well could have another 2-3 years left in him. Assuming retirement because they've been in the league for a long time is silly.

"Just the Patriots don't have enough money. They have a lot of it, don't getme wrong but they can't keep everybody"

They can't keep everybody so they have to LOSE everybody? It doesn't work that way.

You basically took a T&R heavy on the R, and called it a TD. How about some valid reasons rather than rumor?

Hey, too bad I didn't say they had to lose everybody.

Did you read my arguement just now?

And let me ask you one thing? How are you suppoosed to keep a lot of the best people and not lose money? Oh, and if you didn't know this, money doesn't grow on trees. When the draft is over, they are going to try to figure out how they could have enough salary room. I thought about using this as a TD because I looked at it when I got on, and it looked like it would be a fun TD.

Does that awnser your question?

OK, let's sum this up.

"The Pats are going to break up in the offseason."

That's the title of the TD

As your entire first argument, you use a T&R that speculates on some players the Pats may not keep. You name 6 players and call this "breaking up the team".

To back up your position that they will lose these 6 players, you argue only that "money doesn't grow on trees" and "They've played a long time so they'll probably retire". You conclude by basically repeating yourself.

1. 6 players does not = "breaking up the team". That's absurd. Every team in the NFL will turn over more players than that.

2. Without knowing the Pats salary cap situation, you have no idea what they can or can't afford. You are simply guessing.

3. You offered absolutely no evidence of any sort to back your assertions. The closest thing you had to evidence was what you copied from T&R, which was all speculation to begin with.

Logic and reason tells me the Pats will do whatever is in the best interest of the team. Their history confirms that logic and reason. Will they keep all 6 players you named? No. Will they lose all 6? Probably not. Do six players constitute breaking up a team? Absolutely not.

A lot of it. But of course you have to use sources.........

If NE isn't going to dish out the money to pay for Samuel they won't pay for Randy.

February 5, 2008  09:24 PM ET

"If NE isn't going to dish out the money to pay for Samuel they won't pay for Randy."

What kind of logic is that?

Besides, this TD is that the team is going to be "broken up", which is absolutely absurd.

NE is to cheap to resign there free agents, vote to bucsfan

"NE is to cheap to resign there free agents"

Wow. Just wow. Tom Brady says Hi.

They aren't "too cheap" to sign their free agents, they simply won't over pay at certain positions.

6 GOOD players

February 5, 2008  10:29 PM ET

No thanks Buccaneer4LifeST(21), I don't do draws except in extenuating circumstances.

February 5, 2008  10:30 PM ET

"6 GOOD players"

I don't care if it's 6 hall of famers, it's still not breaking up a team to replace 6 guys. They aren't going into rebuilding mode here.

February 5, 2008  10:32 PM ET

How in the holy heck is this close? One side argues that "money doesn't grow on trees" and "How are you suppoosed to keep a lot of the best people and not lose money?" and has little clue as to the specifics of what they are talking. The other side knows exactly what they are talking about and pointed out copious flaws in their opponents arguments. Just sad.

Randy will stay. Seau might retire but I think Teddy will be back. Samuel and I think Stallworth might leave but they will still feature the same backfield, starting wideouts, TE, and same line. The Defensive front 3 will be the same. I think Colvin could be resigned and only Samuel will be gone after that. He can join a long line of CBs that have gotten paid leaving NE. They will replace him just like he replaced the person that replaced Ty Law. People are over blowing the FAs of the Patriots. So they stand to lose what? 2 or 3 starters. Any really expect this team to collapse? They have a top draft pick and this team is batting 1.000 since 2000 with 1st rounders.

CCC those 6 players are making the patriots what they are! Bruschi and Seau are the real leaders on the defensive side and keeps the defense in track. Samuels was probably if not the best DB of the year with his great plays in criticle situations. And MOSS! Yes MOSS didn't do anything in the post season, but he sure made room for Brady to throw to Welker, Gaffney, Kyle Brady, Donte Stallworth, and the exclusive back Kevin Faulk. Your making as the Patriots will reload like always. Well your probably right because Bill BeliCHEAT usually reloads with great players and great bargins in free agency, but what if they don't. What if they do lose moss, do you expect Donte Stallworth to be the #1 reciever. Hes not a big threat as a reciever, especially not as good as Moss. And making Donte #1 reciever will make Welker a #2 reciever and thats the worst situation for Welker. His presence as a "slot" reciever gives him the ability to get open. Some recievers are made to be "slot" recievers like Brandon Stokley or Anthony Gonzales. Samuels isn't as big of a threat to Lose then Moss, but still is a great DB. Bruschi is the leader of the defense and if anyone still haven't seen that yet, then i don't know what your watching. If they lose Bruschi, the defense won't fall apart, because they still have Mike Vrabel, But showing his heart after coming back from the neck injury has shown toughness and desire to win for his team. So you need to notice that losing those six players will be a big loss for the Patriots and like i said, yes they might reload, but BeliCHEAT will need to work his magic in the Free Agency to get great deals!
