What should Goodell do??

Specter raised the threat of Congress canceling the league's antitrust exemption and reiterated that in the meeting with Goodell. The two met face to face and Goodell stated that Billicheck belived what he was doing was NOT wrong, and the congressmen believes that implies Billicheck has been doin it since 2000. To avoid the level of embassment MLB has faced with congressional intervention, should Goodell re-open spy gate??

I say yes......

Check out this link......Worth the 3 minutes it will take you to read

I say no..........

There are so much more important things that the Congress need to be worrying about other than Spygate.

The War in Iraq?

The steroids thing is bigger than that.Michael Vick is better than that. It is not a big deal. If they did use Spygate, how did it help them? They might learn part of their gameplan, but that isn't a big deal.If Belicheck has been doing that since 2000, than why haven't they won Super Bowl XLII, XLI, and XL? I just don't think that it is that important for Goodell to re-open it.

Good Arguement.

If I understand correctly, If he voids the antitrust exemption that would not be a good thing. The antitrust exemption allows the NFL to act as a legal MONOPOLY...

Without that ANTI-TRUST exemption, there may be a break up of the NFL, just like they did to AT&T in the 80's, and what they tried to do to Microsoft in the 90's.....Remeber all those hearings Bill Gates had to go to??

Could you imagine if the 32 NFL teams were re-aligned into 3 DIFFERENT Pro Football leauges??? Those are the ramifacations Goodell would be looking at

He wouldn't be looking into things like spliting up the NFL.

He is not stupid.

They are not going to break up the NFL. It isn't a big enough thing to do that.

WHAT??? The NFL isnt big enough to do that?? The NFL brings in more then $10 Billion dollars a year...Thats BILLION with a "B"

DO you know what a monopoly is?? A monopoly means there is no competion. Who can compete with the NFL?? Arena Football?? College cant unless you keep players past 4 years and pay em........NFL europe doesnt exist.......

Where is the competion? There isnt any......Why do you think the NFL has a Anit-Trust exemption....???? That exemption allows them to LEGALY, be a mononpoly...Thats why MLB has one, the NHL has one and so does the NBA

If the Anti-trust exemption is revoked, then congress can LEGALY break up the NFL....Read the rules partner. As unlikely event as this is, its 100% tangible

You read too fast.

I said it isn't big enough. By that I mean it isn't a big enough deal(SpyGate) for them to break up the NFL.

Jeez........You freak out too much.

Im out...I'll finish this tommorow...Good luck

"There are so much more important things that the Congress need to be worrying about other than Spygate. "

There are dozens of committees on capital hill investigating hundreds of different things every day. With each of the three major sports having large scandals within the last couple of months, some congressional oversight should be expected as a result of anti-trust law exemptions, particularly in Baseball and Football. It's not an either/or. Either pay attention to the war or the NFL. Congress is fully capable of handling all that comes it's way. Some issues are certainly more important than others, but that doesn't mean the smaller issues should just be ignored.

what? since when have teams been in the wrong place filming the team? there are guidelines that are followed by the coaches and teams of where you can and cant tape, and what you can and cant use...and he clearly broke those rules...so tell me again how it has been going on for decades?

I'm waiting for arguments, but I've heard the line about "Congress has more important stuff to worry about, like Iraq."

Really? Is it Congress' responsibility to clean up DUBYA'S MESS in Iraq? I always thought it was the Executive's job to deal in foreign matters.

US Constitution, Article 2, Section 2
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy... and of the Militia (National Reserve) of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States...
He shall have Power, by and w/ the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties.

Last time I checked, he wasn't taking Advice or Consent from anyone except Karl Rove and Scooter Libby. He's the Decider, isn't he?

Now I'm probably on an NSA watchlist. D'oh!!!!

tricky situation...based of that article i think he should open it back up...but only to see if there has been significate evidence of the rams incident...if not..case closed

People have been doing cocaine for decades so I guess we shouldn't do anything about that either.

I don't like it when Congress gets involved and trivial things like this. I understand what CCC is saying but it still cost tax dollars and I think they get involved for the public recognition. There are other things they could look at that are being swept under the rug because this will catch the public eye. All in all spygate is not a big deal. So they cheated to win a Super Bowl. No one died, some might have lost money (I won some), but no real damage was done. Its almost like if they would have changed the ending on Casablanca or something.

He should: 1. get some sun 2. drop the tough guy attitude 3. treat cheating coaches the same as cheating players - hypocrite! 4. loose that awful east coast accent.

waste of money having politicians involved in sport in anyway......stay out of it and feed the homeless or something!
