they have kept much of their remaining core from the 2007 world series

The Mets are stacked, Schilling has packed, and their bullpen is jacked.

yea even with schilling gone for most the year Clay Buchholz will emerge from his no hitter last year and shine in their system and Hideki Okajima went and learned new pitches and the mets might start off slow due to that collapse last year

Ever hear of thing called Championship Hangover, parity, or players just simply getting old? That'll be the 2008 Red Sox. Plus, the Tigers added Dontrelle Willis and Edgar Renteria, so Boston won't even be the best team in their own League. There's been a new Champion each year since 2000; the odds are definitely not in their favor.

Yea but the red sox are to well managed to not put a season that can make the playoffs even if its the wild card and two players cannot add that much to a team at didnt make the playoffs and the emergence of Jacoby Ellsbury in center with his speed and batting ability will be crzy plus noone other than the indians pitched against him

Where would last year's Sox team be without Beckett or Ellsbury? Not in the playoffs, and they wouldn't have had the chance to barely escape the Tribe like they did this year. All the Mets basically got was Santana (it's all they really needed). So I totally think two players can make an enormous impact.

It's hard to say that they're going to get any competition from their division, but I mean that in a negative way. With the Torre leaving the Yanks and the D-Rays, Orioles and B-Jays being, well, the D-Rays, Orioles and B-Jays, they are not going to be tested very much. And we all know what happens when Manny gets bored.

The Mets need to fix their bullpen and Willis had an off year last year. Renteria missed some crucial time last year late in the season with a twisted ankle. The Os traded Bedard, pehaps the ace of their staff. NOTE: the D-Rays are now just Rays, change it in the offseason.

Haha, MH7KiNG, you're the first person to ever say that and I've probably left 20 or 30 "No comment" comments on this site.

Willis and Renteria make the Tiger better than Red Sox? Hilarious.
