The st louis cardinal rookie pitcher is easily one of the best rookies. His fastball can touch 98 and he has one if not the best breaking balls. All the espn announcers keep on saying watch out. Watch out... kyle for roy

First off, who the heck is Kyle Koenig? Secondly, you are gonna with what Espn announcers say? How often are they right in predicting the winners for such awards? I am guessing not very often. That's just ludicrous. I believe it's just all hype.
I can give you a few players who has a better chance of winning the Rookie of the Year award. Both from the AL and NL.
Here's why Koenig won't win:
The Red Sox has a couple of gifted prospects in SP Buccholz and OF Elsbury. They have shown flashes of brilliance last year with Buccholz tossing a no hitter, and Ellsbury providing a much needed spark during the playoffs.
Buccholz: 3-1, 22.2 IP, 1 CG and Shutout(from no hitter), 22 k's, 1.59 ERA
Ellsbury: 116 AB, 3 HR, 18 RBI's, .353 avg.
Those are amazing stats for a pre-rookie year.
The Reds have a promising prospect in OF Jay Bruce, who was top minor league player of the year last year. He could possibly start at CF.
My candidates all have a better chance of winning the ROY award.

What about Kyle Koenig is all hype? His blazing fastball, nasty slider, or whipsaw curveball? Kyle Koenig is a non roster invitee to the cardinals after they discovered him in the sandlots of canada. He is expected to win a spot in the middle of the rotation at the 3 or 4 spot. Every scout i've talked to has been raving about this kid. He is supposed to dominate the league like liriano did for a few months in his rookie season.
The Bandit said 02/15, 07:46 PM
He may enter the Cards' rotation, but how do you know how well he'll dominate. This is the big leagues, and everything you've heard is all out of speculation. Liriano was splendid before he succumbed to an injury, which dwindled his chances of winning the award. How do you know Koenig won't suffer the same fate?
To state in your TD title that Koenig will win the MLB ROY award is pretty bold because there are other prospects out there who has as great of a chance if not greater. Koenig hasn't even got a taste of the majors yet you believe after it's all said and done, he'll be Rookie of the Year? What makes you believe he'll find success? Even if he was succesful, there's no guarantee he'll win the award.
Ellsbury and Buccholz has already a few cameo appearances under their belt. and they have already impressed. Both have shown they have the potential to do well in the league. Now who do you think has the advantage? I will go with the Red Sox prospects.

Dude, liriano dominated with nasty stuff and so will koenig. On the 20-80 scale scouts use to grade pitches, his heater and curve are 70s and his fastball is an 80. Koenig has a higher ceiling than any of the red sox prospects. He has never had an injury problem in his life. He WILL stay healthy and he WILL dominate.
The Bandit said 02/15, 08:25 PM
Looks like you seem way too assertive about his chances. We might as well present him with the Cy Young award as well huh.
You said " He WILL stay healthy and he WILL dominate."
Can you guarantee that? You mean to tell me that's there not even a miniscule chance that he'll tear a ligament in his throwing arm, dislocate his shoulder, or get hit by line drive back to the pitcher's mound? I don't think you can.
Can you also consider the possibility that all he might become is a bust? It happens in sports all the time, and some of those that are graded very high according to scouts actually turn out to be nothing more than just an average or above avg. pitcher but not spectacular. I am not saying that Koenig will fall into that category but it's always a possibility.
Even though he might find success in the big leagues, I am sure there will be other rookies out there in contention for the ROY award. It's not like MLB already has Koenig's name etched on the trophy. He has to earn it.
You're speaking as if nobody else has a chance, real preposterous!
