All Unrestricted NFL Free Agent Team

This means the players that would be the best for a team to sign if they had a need at this position. Of course this includes no one who has already been franchised. And they actually have to play that position. No making a LT a RT. Follow my lead in number of players at each position.

QB: Rex Grossman
HB: Jamal Lewis, Michael Turner
WR:Randy Moss, Bernard Berrian
TE: Dallas Clark, Alge Crumpler
LT:Flozell Adams
LG:Alan Faneca
C:Jeff Faine
RG:Jake Scott
RT:Jordan Gross

DE: Jared Allen, Terrell Suggs
DT: Albert Haynesworth, Corey Williams
MLB: Zach Thomas
OLB: Lance Briggs, Calvin Pace
CB: Asante Samuel, Nnamdi Asomugha
FS:Ken Hamlin
SS:Sammy Knight

P:Mitch Berger
K:Josh Brown

I'll save us time by just listing the differences I have.

QB - Daunte Culpepper

DE - Marques Douglas instead of Suggs

OLB - Terrell Suggs instead of Pace

MLB - Tedy Bruschi instead of Zach Thomas

SS - Gibril Wilson over Sammy Knight

P - Kyle Larson over Mitch Berger

Both NFL.com and the Ravens' team site list Suggs as a linebacker, so I put him at OLB and replaced him with Douglas at DE.

Wow ten votes after my first arguement. Can't anyone let me explain my reasoning behind grossman? I said "This means the players that would be the best for a team to sign if they had a need at this position." Culpepper is 31 and injury prone. Rex is 27 and still has potential. He has shown sign of being a above average qb, and other times he has made horrible mistakes. To me, Rex and Culpepper may be on the same level talent wise, so why not sign the younger, less likely to be injured player.

ESPN.com list Terrell Suggs as a DE in their depth chart ditto to footballsfuture.com. That's where I got my info. And since we both have creadible sites and we really can't explain whose right we should just take Terrell out of the arguement.

And for Bruschi and Thomas, there both the same age and both have the same experience so theirs nothing to argue there. But I'm just looking at stats. Tedy's career high in tackles came in 03, the prime of his career, when he had 131. THOMAS HAD 165 TACKLES IN JUST 06. Thomas consistently goes over 150 while tedy has never even once.

Im running out of text so ill explain my reasoning behind the two other players next arguement...

Rex has potential, but Culpepper still outperforms him. Year-by-year, Culpepper has had a higher QB rating than Grossman for every year they've both been in the league. Grossman just had a 66.4 rating this year (his 5th year). In his fifth year, Culpepper had a 96.4 rating. Give me Daunte any day over Sexy Rexy.

Personally I'd trust NFL.com and the Ravens' site over ESPN.com and footballsfuture, but you're right, it's too pointless to argue DE and OLB.

Bruschi and Thomas have the same age, true. Thomas will of course get the most tackles on the team when you consider that the only other playmaker that has been on the team of late is Jason Taylor, and he plays on the DL. Besides, Tedy plays in a 3-4 D for the most part, where tackles among LBs aren't as plentiful. And both are the same age, yet Bruschi hasn't been cut (and by a better D)...seems strange.

I took Wilson over Knight because both had very similar stats this year...but Wilson is 26 years old, while Knight is 32. If I was a prospective team looking for a SS, I'd take the young.

And before you complain about QB, remember Daunte is closer to Rex's age, and has a history of winning (and QBs generally last longer).

Look at who Daunte had in his fifth year. Some guy named Moss. And what has he done without Moss:

13 TDS to 20 ints.

Give Moss to Rex and you get the same production. Moss will do that to any QB, just look at Tom Brady. (Not saying Tom was bad before hand but he never threw almost 50 TDs until Moss arrived.)

You think that just because Thomas is the only talent on the D that he gets all the tackles? How bout Will Witherspoon? The rams have about the same below average D and yet will witherspoon has far less tackles... Weird huh?

And you also bring up that he'll get less tackles being in a 3-4. Then why did Stephen Cooper, D'Qwell Jackson, and Patrick Willis all have more tackles? This is weird...

And you also wondered why Brushchi wasn't cut this year. It would be kind of hard, since he is a free agent and all. Once again really weird....

You say that Daunte has a history of winning, but its more like a history of winning with Randy Moss. Without him he is just an older, more injury prone Rex Grossman. Irony?

It's unfair of you to put all of Daunte's success and failure on Randy Moss. Who was Daunte's best WR after Moss left? Travis Taylor. Ever heard of him? Me either. But he has never had over 869 receiving yards in his career...bad. Culpepper has either had great WRs (Moss) or bad/awful ones (Taylor, Booker, Porter).

Will Witherspoon had 110 tackles this year...and the guy with the next most had 75. So Witherspoon still outperformed the next closest guy by 35 tackles.

As for your 3-4 argument...you do realize that those are just specific examples? Of the top 10 tackles leaders in the NFL this year, 8 of them played in 4-3 Defenses, and 2 of them in 3-4. Of the top 20 tackles leaders? 17 of them played in 4-3 Defenses. So yeah, you generally get more tackles in a 4-3 D than in a 3-4 D.

OK, I'm a dolt for that Bruschi thing. But it's no sure thing he would've been cut even if he hadn't been a FA, while it's a fact that Zach Thomas wasn't good enough for...the Dolphins.

Grossman? Honestly?

Just pick anyone besides Grossman...

Report Offensive Comment

He did, and actually went down in value, Culpepper is GARBAGE

Report Offensive Comment

QB - Both QB's are garbage...

DE - Douglas > Suggs

OLB - Suggs > Pace

MLB - Bruschi > Thomas (Going by this year)

SS - Push

P - Do they matter in comparison, as long as you have one?

Report Offensive Comment

I dont think Clark is a FA, i believe he signed...

Report Offensive Comment

I wouldn't sign Cullpepper to a Pop Warner team,

I would say that Josh McCown or Quinn Gray would be the best FA QB, I know, I know it isn't a good year for QB's and at least these guys haven't proven they are awful just yet.

Report Offensive Comment

Cullpepper can't play for his life anymore. At least Grossman, at times, looks like an elite QB.

grossman lost my vote

Report Offensive Comment

Didn't Culpepper have a better QB rating this year?

Report Offensive Comment

"At least Grossman, at times, looks like an elite QB."

What times? When he's getting a massage from the trainer? Culpepper may not be showing of late, but at least he has NFL caliber talent proven by some good performances. Grossman has never done anything at the pro-level.

LYNCHisOTGY* BS CB MS 2179 | 02/17/08, 11:19 AM

Eh...Culpepper looked like an Elite against the Vikings, but both of those guys, to repeat an oft mentioned point, are GARBAGE!

Report Offensive Comment

Honestly I would take Grossman over Culpepper, Culpepper is utterly useless, he hasn't done a damn thing since Randy Moss mooned the crowd at Lambau. At least Grossman was in a Super Bowl, which of course he lost for his team. Besides that, Lifers team was better than Elways. Vote to Lifer

Report Offensive Comment

people, pleez read my reasoning before you all jsut vote for him because i mentioned rex grossman.

Report Offensive Comment

Also Thomas has all those tackles because he is the only good linebacker the Dolphins have had for a very long time. Look who Bruschi played with at linebacker the past couple of years, McGinest, Vrabel, Thomas(Adalus), Seau, not to mention a very talented defense with the likes of Seymour, Wilfork, Samuel, and Harrison. So as you can see, it would be hard to get all those tackles when all those other talented players on defense are making plays. The tackles are a bit exagerated because besides Taylor, Thomas is the only good played the Dolphins have on defense.

Report Offensive Comment

So you cant just be there to get those tackles. You still have to make plays. Will Witherspoon plays on a defense just as bad as the dolphins. Yet he had 110 tackles.

Report Offensive Comment

That's a pretty bad comparison judging that he hasn't done **** without moss. Give moss to grossman, same production.

Report Offensive Comment

both good teams and arguements but vote to the left

Report Offensive Comment

thanks for admiting your a dolt. lol jk

Report Offensive Comment

Rex is god awful... Culpepper is just awful

Bruschi is an awesome guy, but just can't compare to Thomas...

Close to a tie on both of you, but the Rex thing cost you my vote as he shouldn't be playing arena football, much less in the NFL...
