Nothing can help the Heat out this year. Their main guy, Dwayne Wade, can only do soo much, and he is nursing a bummed shoulder and a bad knee and bad shin. Shawn Marion will only add to the horridness this year. They need a healthy "Big" man to help them out

Shawn Marion can only help. He scores more, rebounds more, dishes out more assists, steals more, and has a lot less turnovers. Shaq on the other hand misses a ton of games. Plus Shaq and Riley argued a lot.

Look at the Heats next 5 games
Rockets
76ers
Kings (no Bibby and don't be surprised if they they trade Artest soon)
Lakers
Sonics

Yea but look at their last 21 games? they are 1-20 and I should say that with Shawn Marin they are 0-3. Even though Shaq and Riley were argueing, Shaq (when he played) was a big part of the team winning. Also, they need a "Big" man. Not a SF. Alonso is too old to be a dominate big man, and the Heat just traded their ticket to getting a dominate big man. When Shaq plays, he one of the biggest threats in basketball.

Those 3 losses came against the Lakers (with Gasol), Nuggets, and Bulls. All three of those games were very close (but of course a close game is just a consolation prize when you lose). Now that they have had some time to play together, I do expect them to get some wins because they have an easy schedule for the next few weeks. I expect them to not finish with the worst record in the NBA (which they have now).

Although Shaq is still a decent center, they could not go any further. Shaq was getting old and could not play every day and the Heat knew it. Don???t underestimate their starting center Blount, check his stats starting on January (that is when he started getting minutes) http://www.nba.com/playerfile/mark_blount/game_by_game_stats.html
He can shoot very well for a center.

Are they done for this season? Yes. Are they done for the next few years? If they hold Wade, Marion, and get that top draft pick, they'll get back into contention.

February 17, 2008  03:27 PM ET

they were done for once they lost there first game, ill wait for more arguements to make my pick

They are done for the year, yes, but not for the long haul. Could you ever say that a team that finished last in the league would be a serious contender the next year? I beleive the Heat can do just that with Dwayne Wade, Shawn Marion, the first overall pick, and a hall of fame coach in Pat Riley.

Assuming Wade is healthy next year, and if they're able to move JWill and/or Ricky Davis's expiring contracts and get anything decent in return before the trade deadline, and get a high lottery pick, they could be right back among the contenders in the East. They may not be among the elite, but I could see them competing with the Cavs and maybe the Magic after the top two in the East. It doesn't take allot to be in the top 4 or 5 teams in the East.

HEAT ROCK WHAT U TALKIN BOUT JACK*** u just said the most obvious thing i have ever heard

hey Trent, the last time I checked, the Heat are a terrible team. I'm from Wisconsin, so I probably know more about Dwayne Wade than you hope to in your life, but even his super-star skills can't save the Heat this year. There 9 and eternity record will land them the first pick in the NBA Draft, NOT even close to a 8-seed playoff spot, even in the East this year, so better luck next year. Be a homer, that's fine, but seriously, wishful thinking is a lot different than knowing the inevitable.

is this from last month?

He's only talking about this year. But then again, that's a pretty easy argument. So...my vote goes >>>>>

forza has a high powered telescope and saw the huge meteor heading directly to the home of d-wade. it is scheduled to arrive at the same time of a team party along with: 40 samurai, tony cornheiser, bryant gumble, expired tuna, and poisen in their drinks.
