If Kobe Bryant elected to have finger surgery today and was out 5 weeks, the Lakers would miss out on the playoffs.

~I settled on 5 weeks because most are saying that it will take 4-6 weeks.~

Not only are they losing 28 ppg, 5.3 apg, 6.1 rpg but they are also losing the leader of the team. And who is going to step up and replace his output?

5 weeks will take them to April 1st and in that period they play some of the top teams in the NBA:
@Pho
Portland
@Portland
Dallas
Toronto
@New Orleans
@Houston
@Dallas
@Utah
GS
@GS
Washington

You think they can we 2/3rds of those game without Kobe? We'll if you do your incorrect. There is only a three game difference in the top heavy west this year between the Lakers, and the 9th place Warriors and they are playing some of the West's best down the stretch. They can't afford to lose hardly any of them.

nobody gafs about shobe he is an illiterate lb and the lakers are going to make the playoffs so how bout u dont say the obvious

It's hard to beat what you just said. Lol

i agree with dj i think they could get about 14 or 15 years with out one of the best players to play the game

vote for me

elway is in lb

I am an LB.

Wow, I don't think I've seen such a great argument before 2 Legit. I can see you are one of the best Fannation has to offer.

February 19, 2008  09:13 AM ET

Imagine that, Stockton to Malone is 2 Legit's friend and guess who he voted for.

February 19, 2008  09:37 AM ET

They would go 12-18 without him (at least) and end up with 47 wins

Reason I picked 12 wins is because Lakers are 9-14 over the past few seasons without him......But they didnt have Gasol in the past

Personally I think they could go 15-15 without Kobe......

Look at the Lakers remaining schedule

February 19, 2008  09:37 AM ET

But its a moot point since Kobe wont have surgery

February 19, 2008  09:38 AM ET

Having said all that

<-----------------------------------------

How the hell does he have 2 votes????

February 19, 2008  09:42 AM ET

although your argument was incredibly convincing 2 Legit, I'm gonna have to side with Elway

February 19, 2008  01:23 PM ET

The west is way to close to lose your best player and expect to compete.

February 19, 2008  01:24 PM ET

How does he have six votes?

February 19, 2008  01:35 PM ET

I'm lost. Am I that much of an idiot to understand what 2 legit is writing? Gotta go with Elway on this one

February 19, 2008  03:01 PM ET

Not a Kobe fan due to his personality (but he has come a long way since the season started). But I do feel for Kobe in this case...it really is one of them "damn if I do, and damn if I don't" situation for him.

Hmmm, interesting arguments guys,

February 19, 2008  08:42 PM ET

i dont know what else to say to that. lol

February 19, 2008  08:45 PM ET

perfect example of how that guy is 1-8

February 20, 2008  08:31 AM ET

Uhhh... the Lakers have 36 wins. They can certainly win 10 of their last 29 games to waltz into the playoffs with or without Kobe. Now, they may go 0-3 once they get there, but they'll be in easily.
