The reason I think this is because out of all the freshman (Kevin Love, OJ. Mayo, Eric Gordon, and Derrick Rose he has the best potential to be good in the NBA because of his size his ability to shoot the 3, and he can create his own shot. The first pick of the draft will either go to the Heat or the Timberwolves, which both teams need a power forward.

I think it depends on who your going with. If your going with Miami i would go with a player like Eric Gordon or OJ Mayo. If you are the T-Wolves you go for a player like Beasley. You have to specify, but since you didn't ill argue what i think is right.

The Heat, if they get the first pick will not choose Beasley. They need a big shooter! Dwayne Wade can't do everything himself. Sure Beasley is a great shooter but not to the likes of OJ Mayo. Did you see the Oregon game?!! He was shooting 3's from the NBA line. Plus, why would they trade away the biggest of big men (Shaq) if they were in need of a big men as you put it.

Plus, the Heat need a big time ball handler, Jason Williams is decent at best, he is a very weak passer for a PG. The Heat will get a big man in the offseason, plus they still have Udonis Haslem who is not bad at all:

Haslem: PPG 12.1 | RPG 10.3 | BPG 0.4

They need a sharpshooter the status of OJ.

O.J Mayo is a good pick but not the best one and heres why, you said that Mayo can shoot which is true but what about turnovers. Did you see the UCLA game he had 10 turnovers! He is averaging 4 turnovers a game when Beasely is only at 2.9 turnovers a game. Not only can Beasley shoot but he can dominate in the post. Beasley is averging 5 more points than Mayo, and he is averging 8 less rebounds than beasley. Another problem is that Mayo is a guard and he should at least average more than 2.9 assists per game, thats pathetic for a guard. Beasley not only has a better field goal percentage but he has a better 3 point percentage. I dont think that there is any guard who was picked 1st in the nba draft that has more turnovers than assists

You are definitly right about the assists, I was considering that when I accepted this throwdown, but to cover it all up he can be really good when he wants to. For example his stats against Oregon St:

Mayo: 19 Points 6 Assists 7 Rebounds

Sure you can say what you want about them not being a good team but im not buying into it. OJ played his heart out and thats what I feel he will do in the NBA. He is one of the most NBA ready players in NCAAB. He will be a good fit at PG or maybe SF because of his size (6'5). Look at the roster with OJ in the lineup:

Mayo(with college stats): PPG 20.0 | APG 2.9 | RPG 4.5
Dwayne Wade(Great): PPG 24.3 | APG 6.8 | 3P% .231
Ricky Davis(Dencent): PPG 13.6 | RPG 4.2 | APG 2.9
Shawn Marion(Great): PPG 15.8 | RPG 9.9 | BPG 1.5
Udonis Haslem(Great): PPG 12.1 | RPG 10.3 | BPG 0.4

He would really complement Ricky Davis's decentness. If that makes sence lol. Once again WHY WOULD THEY TRADE SHAQ IF THEY WERE IN DESPRETE NEED OF A BIG MAN?

First of all to answer your question they traded shaq because 1. HE is going to retire in a few years. 2. He is injury prone. 3. They needed a pretty good small forward in Marion. You didnt mention anything about the turnovers. Once he gets to the NBA his turnovers arent just going to stop. For example against UCLA 4 pts and 10 turnovers. So he cant be good when he wants too. And if all of those Miami players are great or Decent than why are they the worst team in the NBA. Yes Wade is great and you can consider Marion great too but Haslem is not great, and how is rick davis decent he averages 13 points a game and thats it. Its not that hard to average over 10 points a game in the NBA. In almost ev ery mock draft they have Beasley #1 and mayo either at 5, 6, or 7. You said that mayo could be a point guard or a small forward. I dont think he can be a point guard when he cant pass all that well and he cant be a small forward because he is only 6 foot 5 inches which is very small for the NBA. He would have to be a SG if anything.

Well I was just saying he might be able to. Paul Pierce is like 6'6 so i was thinking maybe OJ could just slide in but it doesn't matter.

Also, Mock Drafts mean NOTHING! Mario Williams was projected to go 10-15 but did he? For not starting full time you cannot tell me Udonis Haslem is not great look at those numbers 12.1 pts, 10.3 Rbs he's averaging a double-double.

If you think about it really hard, you may think about this my way. Mayo is a great fit for the Heat, and there best chance at being a contender for the NBA Title next year.

Deandre Jordan if the Heat get the first pick. Michael Beasley if the T- Wolves get it. Derrick Rose if the Sonics get it. OJ Mayo if the Knicks get it.
