The ultimate one game wonder player NFL edition

It would defeintaly have to be Timmy Smith.

This guy rushed for 204 yards in superbowl XXII and scored 2 TDs. Next year he played for the Washington had a terrible year rushing for 126 yards and hardly playing and was out of football by the next year.

Smith played THREE whooping season and gained a total of 808 yards INCLUDING the super bowl game. That game alone for Smith was about 25 percent of his total rushing yards.

After his amazing Super Bowl performance with the Redskins he completley fell off the face of the eart and was a complete nobody. He is the ultimate one game wonder out of any NFL player.

I'll take Joe Kapp, the one man wonder.

As a QB of the Minnesota Vikings, he had a whopping 7 TD passes! 7! That is about 1/3 of the TD passes that good QBs get in a season! Kapp just had an awesome game.

Smith had a great game but not as good as 7 TDs. You said ONE game wonder. You are talking about how that was his only good game so your argument doesn't fit with the title.

Anyways, Kapp just had a better game.

Kapp did not completly fall off the face of the earth as Smith did. He win the super bowl MVP and rushed for over 200 yards and scored twice. most QBs by the way pass for more than 21 touchdowns throught an entire season.

My argument does fit my title becasue that was Smiths only good game. Kapp on the other hand had decent games and seasons for the Vikes. Smith had never started a game besides the super bowl and he played amazingly. Kapp had a amazing game as well but did not suddenly drop out of Football a year after it. Kapp played 3 decent years in Minnesota and a bad year with the Pats.

Smith on the other hand played ONE good game. He never had a good season. His one game performance is 25 percent of his total rushing yards and his two TDs are worth 33 percent of his total TDs career wise. He had one below average year with the Skins in where he rushed for 455 yards on 155 carries for an average of 3 yards per carry. That reall stinks for a player to rush for 204 yards and 2 tds.

Guess what he did the year after? Played 7 games had 29 carries and 126 yrds. The year after that he is out of football.

Kapp had a better game Smith was more of a one game wonder.

You said ONE game so I find it sort of cheap that you are adding all of this stuff that happened after than ONE game. Since the TD is ONE game, than Joe Kapp is the answer. The ultamate ONE game wonder, I am getting to think that you are messing up your arguments . . .

Joe Kapp was more amazing because he was a huge part to the team's victory. Plus, he didn't have fantastic recievers, they were good, but not 7 TDs good.

Smith had great lineman, let me rephrase that, fantastic lineman. I think they should get the credit, not Smith. Smith couldn't of done it without him.

What Cowboys-Celtics-ChiSox said exactly what i mean. I meant by one game wonder that they only had one good game in their entire career. In that Case Smith did.

The title means by one game wonder, what was the best individual performance in a game. If you are going to change the rules, tell me that ahead of time. Actually, don't change the rules.

Joe Kapp.

Timmy Smith was amazing simply b/c of the Hogs making holes so big that a bus can run through 'em.

ONE game wonder. This is just about one game

I thought about doing this with Frank Reicht, but he actually had 2 good games.

I give more weight to Timmy Smith because of when it happened...the Super Bowl.....but not as much because that wasn't a "parameter" of the TD....that the weight of the game was important.

Timmy Smith all of the way.

I read this TD to mean a player who has HAD only one good game in their career. For me, that disqualifies Kapp from consideration.

if its best player to play one outstanding game vote <------------ if its best players performace in one game then its vote -------------> so wats the official rules?

I agree with him more.

My understanding of a one game wonder is when a player has one good game and that is it and then next thing you know you don't ever hear of them again.
