Alright Dawgee, here's my team:

C Josh Bard(389)
1B James Loney (344)
2B Howie Kendrick (338)
3B Evan Longoria -0
SS Yunel Escobar (319) **

OF Jacoby Ellsbury (116) **
OF Jay Bruce -0
OF Matt Kemp (292)

SP Clay Buchholz (3)
SP Erik Bedard (28)
SP Cole Hamels (28)
SP Josh Beckett (30)
SP Chris Young-Padres (30) **

CP Jonathan Papelbon -0

Sorry it was hard to find candidates being that it was 400 or < at bats. We have about 3 differences.

I think that Luis Hernandez is young and has a lot mor epotential than Yunel Escobar. He hit when he had his chance an dshould continue to do that.

I take Cameron Maybin ahead of Jacob Ellsbury because I feel that Cameron Maybin has better potential to become a 30-30 or 40-40 player. With his speed and power, maybe 20-20-20-20, like another former Detroit teamate.

Chris Young had a good year but is still older than David Price. Price was listed on a Top 10 prospects list and is said to become a staff ace in a short while.

Its short, only had 5 minutes to argue!

Alright, let me compare our differences.

Hernandez:69 AB, 5 R, 20 H, 2 2B, 1 HR, 7 RBI,10 So, .290 avg, .300 obp

Escobar: 319 AB, 54 R, 104 H, 25 2B, 5 HR, 28 RBI, 44 So, .326 avg., .385 OBP

Both players are young, but it's obvious that Escobar is a little more experienced. Plus he is a better contact hitter in addition to a better on base %. Escobar know how to get in scoring position, and has a little more speed on the basepaths.

Maybin vs. Ellsbury.

Maybin: 49 AB, 8 R, 7 H, 3 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 21 So, 5 SB, .143 avg.

Ellsbury: 116 AB, 20 R, 41 H, 7 2B, 3 HR, 18 RBI, 15 So, 9 SB, .353 avg.

What's so surprising about those stats is that Maybin struck out more times(21 to 15) than Ellsbury in less at bats(49 to 116). What does that tell you? It clearly states than Ellsbury is more likely the better contact hitter. How could you not take this talented prospect. He's already put the league on notice.
I would take Ellsbury because he's already shown that he has the tools to have a great career in the big leagues. He's emerged late last year towards helping his team attain a champrionship. Maybin has a chance to be good, but Ellsbury has already shown it.

You can't compare stats easily in this TD, it is all about potential. It is hard to compare stats between a guy with 69 at-bats and a guy with 319 at-bats.

Escobar has more expirience, I'll give you that, but Luis Hernandez is two years younger, and two years can make a difference. He has two more years before retirment, he has two more years to reach his full potential, my point is, he's younger.

Maybin has more potential and can become a 20-20-20-20 player just like former teamate Curtis Granderson. He has great fielding abitlities, great arm, more power, more speed, and in the future when he reaches his potenial, more hits.

Maybin was called up waaaaay too early, he was only 19 years old when he made his MLB debut!! Jacob Ellsbury was brought up slowly which helped him get better stats. Maybin went from Single A right to the Show! If the Marlins bring him up slowly, he should be a great player.

I said it once and I'll say it again, David Price is younger and has more potential. Chris Young will only be in his prime for like five years, Price has about five years before he even reaches his prime!! He is young and that is good.

Dawgee, If you say it's all about potential, my guys have already got a great headstart in showing it, so you know they are less of a gamble. At least with Ellsbury and Young, who've already shown signs of promise and skill. It would be hard to go against that. Maybin and Price is more of a speculation at this point.

BTW, if you want to talk who is a potential 30-30 or 40-40, you cannot have a better future candidate than Ellsbury. He knows how to utilize his speed well and has shown signs of power.

Price is all hypothetical as he isn't even in the Rays rotation as of yet. Even if he does make it, he can't be that much better than Young.

Last year, Young's overall record doesn't really reflect how well he has pitched. If he had decent run support, he could easily be one of the top pitchers in the game.
In 15 of his 30 GS, CY got provided with a run support of only 3 runs or less. That's half of his starts!! Imagine if the Padres offense scored just a bit more, he could easily get get 16-17 wins, possibly make a run at 20. His ERA of 3.12 is respectable, but his 1.10 WHIP and .192 BAA is even more remarkable.Price won't shatter #'s like that, emulate them at best.

Its hard to make a good offense using the rules.

Luis Hernandez was the best shortstop you could find? He might not even beat out Brandon Fahey for the Orioles shortstop job.

Report Offensive Comment

He is young still. Why don't you go look for a goo, young SS with less than 400 ab
