Best Month for Sports Fans

When I say Best Month I mean the month that's most exciting with the most things going on and the most things for fans to anticipate. Stuff like that.

We'll say pick first and arguements later, just cus I'm tired and I want to go to sleep.

But I'm gunna have to say March.

April.

How do 10 people manage to vote before the first arguement?

Anyways, I think March is the best time for sports for several reasons:

1) Baseballs fans are anticipating the beginning of baseball. Spring Training is coming to an end. The long winter and baseball-less hibernation concludes in this month.

2) The NHL season is in it's most pivotal time, where everything is going down to the wire. Lotta tension in the NHL in March.

3) Soccer fans in Europe head into the most pivotal month of hte season. It's the month where the team either makes it or breaks it and you really see who the best teams are. The Uefa Champions League is in full swing.

4) The NBA heads into it's final leg of the season, and similar to the NHL, it's coming down to the wire. Especially this year, with all the good teams out there, and how close the standings are in the West, it should be an exciting month.

5) As you can already see, NFL free agents are havin a blast this month. It's been 1 day and theres already been huge trades.

6) Last but not least, March Madness. Easily one of the most exciting tournaments in all American sports, this competition comes complete with upsets and champions.

March gives a great precursor of things to come...in April, the best month for the sports Junkie.

Starting with March Madness...fantastic tournament that culminates with it's biggest games...the final four and the NCAA Championship game...in April. April sees the end of the NCAA tourney as well as the beginning of the NBA playoffs. Hoops fans rejoice.

Play Ball! The Baseball season kicks off, fans of every team can still dream of October glory in April, when everyone is still a contender.

Don't like baseball, you say? No problem. We have the NFL Draft. Easily THE biggest off-season football event. Fans of even the worst teams get something to cheer about (or complain some more about) here. Mock drafting has become a cottage industry all because of this event.

Ah, Magnolia lane in the spring. Images of Jack and Arnie and Tiger will fill Masters week in Augusta. Arguably Golfs most popular and exciting event.

The NHL will wind down it's long season and being their playoffs in this month as well.

I'm running out of room here but so far we have College BBall most important games, beginning of Baseball season, NBA ans NHL playoffs, NFL draft, and Golfs most popular tournament.

The final of March Madness may be played in April, but the main bulk, the part filled with memorable upsets and fantastic finishes, happens in March. Hence the name "March Madness".

The playoffs may not be in March, but in the NBA and NHL, it is the time of the season where only a few games remain, and a handfull of teams play 100% all the time to reach the final playoff spot. It's one of the few times that you see pro athletes playing their best all the time. Sometimes you don't even see that in the playoffs.

Soccer is HUGE in March. Soccer fans actually refer to March as "Mad March" (sound familiar?) because it is the time of year where teams are fighting to stay out the relegation zone, or for the remaining Uefa Champions League/Cup spot, or for the top of the league. More often than not, most leagues are decided around March.

The NFL Draft may be in April, but if the first two days of free agency in March are any indication of the rest, this is going to be an amazing month for football fans.

On a lower level, high school basketball also draws to a close. It's the time of year where state champs are decided.

Ran outta room. Good TD CCC.

That's what I was saying about March. Everything that happens in March culminates in April. And April has something big for fans of ALL the major sports.

Sure the NBA and NHL might be fighting it out for the last playoff seeds in March, but who really cares? Those sports send so many teams to the playoffs anyhow, everyone is just waiting for the playoffs to begin...which happens in April.

The early NCAA tourney games are fun and the upsets are always newsworthy, but the real competition begins with the final four...in April.

F.A. vs. the draft in the NFL? You kidding me? The Dolphins and Jets have been the most active teams in F.A. this year, and aside from Moss, who is out there there is really going to excite the fans? Everyone can get excited at the draft from the 1st round right on through the 7th.

What does March offer the golf fan? Meaningless tune up tournaments leading up to April's Masters...it's grandest event.

March is a month of anticipating the actual events that take place in April. April is a month with something for every sports fan and a dream come true for a sports junkie, the most devoted of which still has trouble keeping up with everything that goes on.

you again... i'm gunna win one of these times you'll see haha

Lol. This one should be good.

You have got to be kidding me CCC. Wow, there are some horrible voters here.

March looks good for me. March Madness along with the great fights we are going to have, tonight was an amazing one., will make this month very good.

Report Offensive Comment

March no doubt. what happens in april? boring as* baseball starts.

Report Offensive Comment

"March no doubt. what happens in april?"

Lol...I"d tell you but I'd blow my arguments here. A LOT more than you think happens in April. Got anymore ID's to vote against me with, ballers?

Report Offensive Comment

March for these reasons. Spring Training gets into full swing where everyone is going to win the world series. The Scouting of young minor leaguers is fun for me. Plus the begging of the baseball season. March madness which is one of the greatest sports events (if you can really call it an event). Football free agency and all the mock drafts which is actually more fun then the draft because there all kinds of disapointments plus I am a Browns fan and we have almost no draft so that isn't very exciting for me. Plus the closing of the NBA season is coming so the best basketball is coming. So that is why i vote to the left.

Woo Hoo...we've got three votes already based on "March" and "April".

if you can convince me otherwise I will change so don't worry about it.

MLB season starts in March this year, going to opening day on March 31st.

And for your information CCC I got to this throwdown using the throwdown page, and haven't voted yet because I want to see what you are going to use to support your argument. Is that all right with you?

Report Offensive Comment

When you factor in international sporting events - April kicks March's butt

Report Offensive Comment

I also like who you are know going on to my old throwdowns and leaving comments about how my side isn't even arguable even though I won 26-2. once again you should know better.

Report Offensive Comment

"and haven't voted yet because I want to see what you are going to use to support your argument. Is that all right with you?"

Feel free to vote as you see fit. I always encourage folks to refrain from voting until at least some arguments have been made.

Finally, I want to put all of this behind us and say, I did go threw your all throwdown link to find more throwdowns, did I go in looking to **** over, hell no I am not that low. Did I disagree with you and the argumetns, on what I think was a Rex Grossman and 1 other and that is why I did vote againts you, not because I was arguing with you in some other throwdown. Now can we move on?

"I also like who you are know going on to my old throwdowns and leaving comments about how my side isn't even arguable even though I won 26-2."

Your "old" TD's? You are referring to your TD about best player of the 90's, the comment was made while the TD was up for vote. IT WAS ON THE FRONT PAGE, not "when it was old", the comment had nothing to do with YOUR choice OR your opponents. I was pointing out you were BOTH wrong. And again, I'll tell you about the play by play button. Go back to that TD and click play by play. See if you can find my name voting at all. I DIDN'T...because you were both wrong and neither of you made a compelling case for you side.

Report Offensive Comment

"Now can we move on?"

Fair enough.

Report Offensive Comment

This is subjective to what you like. If you are a college basketball fan March is your time. If you like baseball and ..... well April does have a ton but I will stop right there. I don't care about a lot of what is going on in April other than.... Ok CCC will pull this one out once he gets his chance. I know where he is going. Don't want to take away anymore of his argument than I already have.

To help with boxing, assuming most don't know, April 12th is a stack night of boxing. My favorite boxer, Glenn Johnson tries to win a light heavyweight title against Dawson along with Tarver taking on Clinton Woods for another light heavyweight title for the showtime card. Than I will change over to HBO to watch another two fights. Cotto takes on Gomez for an easy one but than the Margarito and Cintron rematch for what should be a great one.

Report Offensive Comment

Many people would argue October and others would argue March. That's what I thought this throwdown would turn into. I didn't see April coming.

September is the best-pennant races in baseball, and the NFL starts, all before the most boring league of all(the NBA) starts up and is jammed down everyones' throat by ESPN.
