It may be obvious, but obvious was never a bad thing so I'm going to go with Georgia.
Even though they do have a hard schedule, they are the most talented team in the conference, maybe in all of football, and have the fewest question marks out of anybody in the SEC. Teams like the Gators have a horrible pass defense and the quarterback situation for LSU is discombobulated. (Yeah that's right I did just use a word half the population of Fannation wont understand.)
Now let me get this straight, I DO NOT think they will go undefeated but as we learned last year from the 2 loss LSU squad, it doesn't take being perfect to come out victorious in the SEC.

Well, my fine friend, I'm going to have to take the Florida Gators.
Not only do the Gators have the reigning Heisman Trophy winner in Tim Tebow (who's still only a junior this coming season) and do everything receiver/running back Percy Harvin, they'll also have eligible Emmanuel Moody, formerly of USC. You know, the number one recruit in his class in Tim Tebow's class? That one.
The only players of significance that the Gators lost were Andre Caldwell, Cornelius Ingram and Derrick Harvey. Good players, yes, but irreplaceable, not so much. The same can be said for the Bulldogs, only losing Thomas Brown and Fernando Velasco.
Head Coach Urban Meyer has won as many BCS bowl games as Georgia's Mark Richt, and Meyer's includes a national championship, something that cannot be said for the Bulldogs chief.
Here are some eye-popping stats from Florida last season:
7.0 yards per play
5.3 yards per rushing attempt (includes sacks)
39 rushing touchdowns
32 passing touchdowns
only 37 punts
and a +221 point scoring margin
And in the last 18 years, Georgia's only beaten Florida three times.
Good luck to you Elway

Yes they do have a great offense, probably better than Georgia's. But with that said Georgia still has a great offense and is a far better well rounded team than Florida.
A team like Georgia doesn't have any big holes like the Florida Squad does. Although Florida may not have many holes, they do have one HUGE weakness, which was exploited a lot last year and that would be their secondary.
They gave up an average of 258.5 passing yards a game last year finishing right behind such quality teams as Idaho and Utah State.
Georgia offense is going to be one of the best with the dynamic Moreno and Stafford will have no shortage of wide-recievers to throw to owning one of the deepest wide reciever cores in the country. Plus Georgia was 13th in the country in total yards allowed a game playing against some of the stiffest competition in any conference.
Don't get me wrong, I think Florida is a great team and they will be playing in a major bowl game when everythings said and done. I just believe there not as well-rounded of a team as Georgia is.
thehemogoblin... said 03/02, 07:17 PM
The offense for Florida is so good that it can play over their defense.
Florida's pass defense was so bad because they were in the lead so much that teams had to pass to catch back up to them. In over half of Florida's games, they won by more than 20 points, including 3 in SEC play, so they were constantly having teams have to pass to come back on them, whereas the Bulldogs have 4 and only two of those in the SEC.
Other teams that were below Florida in defensive passing yards:
Oregon
Oklahoma
Tennessee
Texas
Boston College
Now none of those teams were bad at all last year (until Oregon lost Dixon, which proved that you can win with just an offense). Heck, Tennessee beat Georgia too with that horrible pass defense. Some offense they've got in Athens then, isn't it.
However, the only teams go give up LESS rushing yards than the Gators were:
Boston College
Oregon State
Ohio State
USC
Penn State
Kansas
BYU
Virginia Tech
Texas
So it's not like Florida's entire defense is horrible, they just are being passed against because the offense is so good.
E4P Is Not So Mad For Max said 03/03, 12:38 AM
That last arguement you said hurt your other point. If everyone is passing to come back, then no duh they had a "good" run d. NO ONE EVER RAN!
And if you really look everything ran thru Tebow last season. Finally a team like Michigan realized that and look at the result. I know they got some new recruits but he's still the best player on the team and when you stop Tebow, you stop the gator's offense.
And Tennesse was the only team you listed in the SEC with a worse passing defense. Basically everyone in the SEC has good defense. That's why they went 5-3 in conference play last season.
You haven't really said anything relating to Georgia's weakness, only things about Florida's strengths. And you did hit everything good about Florida but you also sugar-coated their weaknesses. While Florida's offense is great, I know for a fact that it will take more than that to win the SEC and while Georgia might have a little worse of an offense, they have a far superior D.
A great offense alone wont win you the title in a superior SEC. You have to be well rounded on both sides of the ball.
thehemogoblin... said 03/03, 12:48 AM
A great offense alone won Florida a National Championship two years ago.
It's an argument, that's what people do, they point out the things that best illustrate their points. Florida's unstoppable offense is my best strength, considering the only thing they lost were two possession receivers, it's only going to get better. Did I mention the fact that they're returning the Heisman winner and are going to have the #1 running back from the 2006 recruiting class eligible too? The best get better.
Georgia's weakness is that they can't pass the ball if people are expecting it, they need the run to set it up. If you get to tee off on Matthew Stafford, he's not good enough by himself to make plays. He's got to have the running game.
Georgia got nearly 2 yards per play less last year. That's a 30 percent less efficient offense. It's not because of the Bulldogs running more either, the percentages were actually about the same of run/pass.
This TD is for round deux of the TD Masters Tourney.

Sorry again about making you wait. I'll be back on tommarow for the rest of my arguements. And can you please make sure no one votes until we at least have two arguements each. Its kinda my pet peeve when people do that in a tourney.

Report Offensive CommentFlorida's only going to be so low because they lost to a damn good HEALTHY Michigan team.
Actually makes me wonder how Michigan could've done if they were healthy all year.
Florida for next year is arguably good enough to be a Preseason Top 5 but probably won't be.

Hey, don't overlook the defenses of schools like that. Oregon State was #1 in YPC given up this year with 1.4 or something. That beat OSU.
"Zook got Florida that National Championship...not Meyer...Zook recruited all those players ands groomed them before he left...Urban just called the plays in the games..."
Funny that Zook couldn't do it when he was actually the coach eh? And if I'm not mistaken it was Meyer who recruited Tebow and Harvin, two of the biggest playmakers on that team for the last two years.
