Toughest sport to play

Toughest sport to play physically (NOT INCLUDING BOXING/ UFC/ MMA or any similar stuff)

I would say rugby for several reasons:

1) You must be strong and in very good shape just to compete and not get killed. (not literally of course)

B) It's a full out contact sport, with no pads (some players can use a small thin shoulder pad, but other than that there's nothin)

I'll argue my other points later.

Does danger make a sport tougher? In auto racing, the risk of death is part of the sport.

The golf swing is the single most difficult movement in sports because you have to cover the longest distance (from the top of the swing to the bottom) and hit the smallest target.

NHL goalies typically stop more than 90% of shots on goal.
Top NFL quarterbacks complete more than 60% of passes.
Leading 3 point shooters in the NBA shoot better than 40%.
But in baseball, if you can get a hit in 3 out of 10 at bats, you'll make millions.

Do the toughest sports require the quickest decisions? It takes only 0.4 seconds for a baseball pitched 98 mph to reach home plate, that doesn't give you much time to think of what you want to do.

Or is scoring a goal in the NHL the toughest? After all, less than 10% of shots get past the goalie.

What about the decathlon? It is 10 events over two days, requiring running (100, 400 and 1,500 meters, plus the 110-meter hurdles); strength (shot put, discuss and javelin) and jumping (long jump, high jump and pole vault).

But how about bull riding? You hold on to a rope with one hand, riding a bull that can weigh 2,000 pounds

So which one did you pick, bud.

I didn't say name every sport off the top of your head and talk about how it's tough physically.

This TD was about which one is about the toughest on the person physcially and the hardest to play.

Or you could just name a bunch of sports off the top of your head too.

Pick one with your next arguement so I can actually argue. damn

The toughest sport physically I would probably have to go with bull riding on this one. You say rugby players don't wear protection, well all bull riders wear is a padded vest. Like I said they are using only 1 hand to ride a pissed off 2,000 pound animal (some with huge horns that can pierce any part of their body at any given time, or the bull can step on their head and crush their skull).

I would much rather be tackled by a 250 pound man than to have my head crushed by a 2,000 pound bull.

You also said...and I quote "You must be strong and in very good shape just to compete and not get killed. (not literally of course)".

Well in bull riding you can literally be killed.

Bull Riding can take the cake if this TD was about the most dangerous to play, but it's toughest to play physcially.

Really all you need is guts and really strong hands. I don't know I really don't follow bull riding tournaments but that's about it.

Rugby you need to be strong, fast, in good shape, and have guts because sometimes guy just get dirty out there.

You think guy's get laid out in football? In rugby its a pretty regular occurance. You don't believe me watch this...

.. and tell me that rugby is not a tough sport to play physcially.

Bull riding is dangerous but not really tough on you physically like rugby is.

Your on a bull for 8 seconds at most. These guys are on the field for 80 straight minutes doing this.

All sports are tough physcially. That's part of what makes it a sport. I said which one was the toughest. You just threw 8 sports at me.

More people have dies recently in Football and boxing than in NASCAR. Not sure about rugby, don't follow that sport close enough to know.

Golf is not tough- it's muscle memory. With the cash the pros have, they can afford to spend 300 days a year swinging 8 hours a day practicing.

IMO is Boxing but the hardest thing to do in all of sports is hit a baseball. If you can do it 1/3 of the time you will be a Hall Of Famer. Don't think it makes it the hardest sport to compete in but it is damn hard to do.

How many people have died in Bull Riding in the last 10 years? I would guess not many.

i was going to say baseball, but he made the comment that rugby players dont wear protection, so i went with something that participants dont wear protection

my friends father had to wear a halo on his head for 6 months due to a bull riding accident

and by the way...how many people have died from playing rugby in the last 10 years?

Must've been tough getting the first comment in when you started the TD ^_^

Rugby is one tough game, no doubt.

Stauff excluded boxing and other fighting sports in the TD, so that's out.

And it's not "the hardest sport to master" it's the toughest to play. Baseball and the like may be hard to master, but I can go outsdie right now and play baseball without a problem.

Bull riding is tough, so is rugby.

Baseball is a very hard game to play. You have 80-90 MPH pitches coming from 60 feet in front of you, and you have to react right away. Very tough.

Nah I came back like 10 min later and there was still no comments so

Nobody has mentioned the toughest 3 minutes in sports?? Olympic style wrestling? THe kind you see in High school, college and the olympics. I played football, basketball and baseball in high school and baseball in college. My very limited exposure to wrestling gave me much respect for these guys and what they do. They get no breaks, it's one on one and the physical exertion is intense, even for an in shape athlete.

I will vote for the golf swing here though. It's dang near impossible to get right and even harder to keep it there.

Since when did getting killed make something more physical?
