Both the Reds and the Indians will win their division!
Dookie: Here We Go Steelers said 03/08, 01:31 PM
Both? Really? There's a very good chance NEITHER win their division
In the NL Central, I like the Cubs or Brewers to win the division, and the Reds, as much improved as they are, will battle it out with the Cardinals for 4th place behind the Cubs, Brewers and Astros.
In the AL Central, the Indians have a great chance to win their division, but in order to do so, they'll have to beat out the Tigers who bulked up their roster tremendously this offseason.
So basically my argument is the Indians have a 45% shot (47% for the tigers and 8% the White Sox bounce back) to win their division, but the Reds are looking at somewhere below 10% shot to win their division.
So there is no way both Ohio teams win their divisions
My Hero / Joe Kidd / Mario said 03/08, 01:33 PM
The Reds greatly improved from last year while the Cubs didnt do much, and Astros will have a bad season also
in the AL Central, they have the best pitching rotation unlike the Tigers, and will get homefield which will help them out come playoffs

"The Reds greatly improved from last year while the Cubs didnt do much, and Astros will have a bad season also"
-The Cubs didn't lose anyone and a lot of young players will improve such as Theirot and Pie. The Cubbies also picked up Kosuke Fukudome, who is a nice addition to a solid core already. Who do the Reds have in their starting rotation that makes you think they will win their division? The Cubbies have Zambrano, Lilly, Hill, and Marquis. Let's not forget Wood if he can ever get healthy. (Ok, we can forget about him)
What don't you like about the Astros? Let's not forget they have Tejada and Matsui up the middle now, and have an ace in Oswalt. Also, way to not even mention the Brewers, or you gonna say last season was a fluke?
"in the AL Central, they have the best pitching rotation unlike the Tigers, and will get homefield which will help them out come playoffs "
-We aren't talkin about playoffs, you said win the division. The Tigers have a much better lineup than the Indians do. In the playoffs pitching is more important, but we see teams with good offenses overcome pitching flaws each year. And let's remember it's not like these Tigers have pitching flaws
My Hero / Joe Kidd / Mario said 03/08, 01:43 PM
1. The Brewers season was a fluke
2. The Reds have better young talent than Cubs
3. Astros dissapointed last year and will this year also
4. Indians pitching is enough to beat out Tigers.
Dookie: Here We Go Steelers said 03/08, 01:47 PM
1. The Brewers season was a fluke
-Why? You act like every domino will fall for the Reds to win the division. Well
2. The Reds have better young talent than Cubs
3. Astros dissapointed last year and will this year also
4. Indians pitching is enough to beat out Tigers.

I think the Indians will but the Reds probably won't. Still need more pitching.

Report Offensive CommentThe Reds just aren't there yet. They have the young talent like Homer Bailey,Johnny Cueto,Joey Votto,Chris Valaika, and Jay Bruce, all who should be excellent players with the reds in a few years.

Report Offensive CommentNow my hero,I'm a huge reds fanb.I really don't see where you get that they greatly improved from last year, just Baker and Cordero. That's it.

Report Offensive Commentdang it....i dunno what happened but my last argument got submitted without me finishing it... so here it is
. The Brewers season was a fluke
-Why? You act like every domino will fall for the Reds to win the division. Well 4 dominos better fall right for it to happen
2. The Reds have better young talent than Cubs - even if that were true, the Cubs have better players like soriano and zambrano so it doesn't matter. Young talent doesn't win the division. I was just sayin the Cubs have the good vetern players as well as young talent
3. Astros dissapointed last year and will this year also
--I doubt it. Oswalt will return to form and their additions up the middle will add big improvements for this team. Tejada will have another MVP type year hitting in the hitters park...
4. Indians pitching is enough to beat out Tigers.
--I said it is debatable that the Indians have better pitching (top 2 yes - but what about 1 through 5?) and the Tigers lineup is much better than the Indians

Report Offensive CommentThe Indians are a very strong possibility, but....I'm not even giving the Reds a chance. I can't see anyone outside the Cubs winning the division this year.

are you crazy to think the indians are on the level of the tigers? ESPN ranked the tigers lineup as the best in baseball

Report Offensive CommentI have agreed that the Tigers are a better lineup, what I will not agree with is the statement that you made about being "MUCH" better.
If you think that Magglio Ordonez or Placido Polanco are going to have the same kind of year they had last year you are crazy. Sheffield can't stay healthy.
Cabrera will bat 2nd for the Indians and Peralta will be 3rd.
Clubbin' baby seals | 03/08/08, 02:23 PM
Report Offensive Commentthe tigers are top 3 in the MLB and indians aren't top 5...if you want to argue semantics, we can argue what much means
Dookie: Here We Go Steelers | 03/08/08, 02:34 PM
Report Offensive CommentAh, the 4th crazy suggestion by My Hero that I've seen today. Let's see:
1. Orioles vs. Reds in World Series
2. Florida Panthers in NHL playoffs ahead of several other teams with better chances
3. Cleveland Browns winning AFC.
4. This one.
There is no way that both the Reds AND Indians will win their division. I will grant that the Reds are improving, and the Indians certainly have a shot. Indeed, if the Indians don't win the division, they'll probably be in as the wild card, but I just don't see the Reds winning the division yet. Both the Cubs and Brewers are better teams at this point.
