I like Peter. He knocked Wladamir down 3 times in their last fight. Peter has beaten James Toney twice, Jameel McCline, and now Oleg Maskeav in 6 rounds. If you don't know who sam peter is then please refrain from voting. Peter is the next big thing and he is not sneaking up on anybody anymore. THE NIGERIAN NIGHTMARE will reign supreme!

I think if anyone can beat Klitschko, it'd be Peter - he was pretty good against Maskaev tonight huh? however, with that said - let's not get overly excited just yet

It's a fact that in boxing, it's a huge advantage if you're taller and you know how to use it to your advantage - When Peter fought McCline, he was fortunate McCline didn't maximise this advantage - Remember Peter getting knocked down several times by McCline? McCline couldn't finish him off and Peter came back and won that fight - Fights like that show why Peter deserves to be labeled as the 'next great thing'

Unfortunately for Peter, Klitschko IS 'THE great thing' - He's nearly 6 inches taller than Peter and he's a smart boxer - one thing's for sure, he ain't McCline - sure the victory against Sultan was dull but it showed Klitschko's ability to maximise his length to his advantage - one wonders if their rematch won't be similar to their first fight - Peter had Klitschko in trouble - but Dr Steelhammer, the smart and efficient boxer that he is, stuck to his game plan - he kept jabbing away and provided many deadly one-two punch combos to outlast Peter - it was also evident that Peter ran out of gas by the end

Wladamir has punished his opponents lately. Klitschko has had problems with Peter. Yeah, i've been saying Peter is big for awhile. I'm not just saying it bc he fought Oleg tonight. If anything it help prove my point more but i know Peter could do what he did to Oleg on ANYBODY. Wladamir is great don't get me wrong. Do you remember Wladamir getting beat by Lamon Brewster and Corrie Sanders? Wladamir is a punisher and the best but you have to say Peter gaining on cred. Even with the the Jameel McCline fight it was a short notice fight. Peter only knew he was facing McCline for 2 weeks. McCline is a journey man that is HUGE. Peter won the fight so what do you have to say? Who has knocked down Wladamir more then twice in a fight? I'd have to say Peter.

*Wladamir is the best but the best has yet to come and that's a younger and harder hitting Peter.*

No doubt - Peter is definitely a power puncher and he packs a larger wallop than Klitschko

But I'm of the view that Klitschko will win via his exceptional ability to maximise his height/length advantage - I also think that Klitschko is better conditioned and this was clearly visible in their first fight when Peter ran out of gas

On top of that, I think he's a smarter boxer - hey, he ain't just the Steelhammer - he's Doctor Steelhammer! He's got a PhD to back it up - and that's gotta count for something right? OK - i know it doesn't - But seriously - there's a reason why boxing is known as the 'sweet science' - it ain't all about your physical tools and a fighter like Klitschko affirms this theory

As for the McCline fight - yes Peter won - and like I said, how he won it was impressive - Peter is, and rightly so, regarded as the next big thing in heavyweight boxing - but McCline ain't Klitschko - he ain't as smart, patient and calculating as Klitschko and that's why he couldn't put away Peter after knocking him down several times

Peter may have knocked down Klitschko - but who won the fight? In the end, Klitschko won DESPITE being overpowered - and that says something

Peter may have knocked down Klitschko - but who won the fight? Yeah, how close was it? REAL CLOSE.

Who cares about Klitschko's PHD that's for outside boxing!

You write a bunch of bs. I know you watch boxing but just like the Patriots crumbled in the SB is the same deal with this fight. Wladamir is the bigger name and that's the only thing between Peter and Klitschko,

Your arguments are not solid. You keep talking about being gassed but that was nearly 2 years ago.

*Peter had never seen talent like Wladamir when he first fought Klitschko. He has fought experienced bangers since then. Toney, McCline, Maskeav ex..
*

DON'T VOTE UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN SAM PETER FIGHT ATLEAST 3 FIGHTS. HE IS THE NEXT BIG THING. JUST BC YOU KLITSCHKO DOESNT REALLY MEAN INSTANT VOTE. PETER JUST KNOCKED OLEG MASKAEV OUT IN 6 THAT BEAT HASIM THE ROCK RAHAMN TWICE. DR. STEEL HAMMER FART IN MY OPINION WHEN IT COMES TO THE NIGERIAN NIGTHMARE,

Great - so their first fight was real close - and that counts for what?

Ok - so I write a bunch of BS - I guess everyone that TDs with you writes a bunch of BS - but looking at your TD record, other people's BS seem to be good enough to keep defeating you

Upsets can happen - but I still don't see what the SB has to do with this fight - I never said Klitschko would win because he's the favorite - if you bothered reading my 'BS', you'll see why I think Klitschko will win - Conditioning, Smarts and an advantage in length - I think you're a little too obsessed with Peter's punching power

Peter has done nothing to show me that he can outlast Klitschko endurance-wise - and I still think Klitschko is a much smarter boxer than Peter - you're discounting this fact without any logical rebuttal

So Peter has fought experienced bangers? This coming from the guy that basically said McCline was a "journeyman" - you make McCline sound useless, now you're making him out to be like some great opponent - and I guess Klitschko has only fought hacks in his career? I guess unifying two belts means squat?

Klitschko is no walkover - He's shown he can take Peter's power and still win

I'm not discrediting Wladamir bc he has dominated the heavy ranks for awhile but Peter can cause trouble with him and 3 knockdowns is enough to go on in their 1st fight.

March 9, 2008  03:39 AM ET

I gotta commend you for not taking the easy way out and going for Klitshcko

I still think Dr Steelhammer will win - I know the first fight doesn't mean anything when a rematch takes place between the two - but Klitschko is a smart fighter and better conditioned - I think it'll be a similar fight to the first - Klitschko will get rocked by Peter - but he'll still find a way to win with his smarts, length and conditioning

I dunno how we can post three arguments for this - we'll just end up rehashing fact after fact ^_^

March 9, 2008  03:46 AM ET

yeah i feel yah. I'm a huge Peter fan but i believe his boxing skills are not as sharp as Wladamir's but power edge goes to the nigerian nightmare.

March 9, 2008  03:47 AM ET

I like Peter in late knockout.

Yea - but again - let's not get too excited and totally discount Klitschko ^_^

Yea - but again - let's not get too excited and totally discount Klitschko ^_^yEAH WHAT MAKES ME DISCREDIT KLITSCHKO IS THAT HE HAS BEEN ROCKED BY SAM PETER. THAT WAS 2 YEARS AGO BRO. KLITSCHKO IS GREAT BUT NOT THE GREATEST BY NO MEANS. HE DOES HAVE FLAWS BELIEVE IT OR NOT. PETER DOES TOO BUT HE CAN ROCK WLADAMIR, IT'S BEEN SEEN BY MANY ON SHOWTIME 2 YEARS AGO.

WHERE'S BUCKY? HE WILL TELL THE TRUTH.

Seriously - are you slow? Could you not tell I was being facetious? You need to get a sense of humor

After seeing Wlad fight his last couple of fights don't look forward to these fights anymore. Peter's fight tonight wasn't bad but it wasn't all that great. The punch counts weren't that great for heavyweights but at least they were willing to mix it up unlike last week. Wlad in his last few fights looks like he is totally unwilling to ever mix it up. He just wears his opponents down with his massive jab and clinches or runs away every time his opponent tries to fight.

I see Wlad fighting another extremely safe first fight and win with his jab again. Peter is good and has a good punch but you can tell this guy isn't nearly as smart and has isn't nearly as polished of boxer in the ring as Klitschko. Peter's shots are looping and his hands aren't very fast at all. That spells great danger for punishing jabber like Wladimir. Klitschko as far as boxing skills go is truly amazing and not just for his size either. He should be a much better fighter but he has the weakest chin I have ever seen on a big guy. So he fights scared and that bothers me. Wlad has adopted this safe first style since being KOed those couple of times. Could Peter expose that chin? Maybe, but I wouldn't bet on it. Peter showed a good chin tonight but didn't his last time out. Wlad's jab is extremely powerful and punishing. He can probably hide behind that and give us boring fights for sometime now. I have even found his recent KOs boring. Anyone can beat him if they can get to his chin. I think it will take a taller fighter, right now I would guess Tony Thompson. I think he has the right tools to get to Wladimir but I wouldn't put money on that one either.

Peter was young when they met the first time and is still pretty young for heavyweight. I just think his punching is to looping to beat an effective against a boxer with the skill set of Wladimir.

The first fight last night was the shocker. Can't believe Diaz lost that fight. Campbell fought a brillant fight and just beat the #1 lightweight. I don't know if he gets all of Diaz belts but he should, Diaz had 3 of 4 belts. It shouldn't even have been a split decision. This is coming from a huge Diaz fan. Diaz just couldn't control all the action like he normally does. Would love to see a rematch but I don't the Don will let that happen. Great fight Campbell.

You know much more about boxing than me so it's nice to know you agree with some of my points - and you're right - when I watch Klitschko's fights, they're always talking about his weak chin - maybe Peter can get a few lucky shots in and finish Klitschko off - but I'm still thinking Klitschko will be defensive and pick his spots - it's not exciting but at least it's effective

March 9, 2008  01:40 PM ET

The reason I doubt Peter is because he doesn't land on the chin to often. He throws looping punches that hit you on the side of the face or in the back of the head. Tony Thompson in my belief is a much bigger threat. A big south paw who can do some damage. He is 36 but didn't start boxing professionally until he was 28. He reminds people of Corrie Sanders so I guess that is why people think he might be able to get to Wlad's chin. He is tall enough and has the reach to contend a little better than the other fighters at the heavyweight division. If Tony can't KO Wladimir than we might have until Chris Arreola comes up to challenge Wlad. Not a lot of guys that can contend with Wlad's size. To bad he doesn't have his brother's chin. If he did than we would have a monster fighter who could mix it up a little. Vitali Klitschko vs Lennox Lewis was the best heavyweight fight I have seen in my lifetime. Better than any of Tyson's and Holyfield's fights.

Klitschko is great but his chin isn't all that. manning to harrison is a media name lover. That means he goes for the obvious. Peter clearly scared Wladamir in their first fight. I'm sure Peter will be Wladamir's toughest opponent and threat for sure.

March 9, 2008  07:55 PM ET

Peter needs to be able to work the jab better than he does. I don't see that jab being effective at all against the taller Wladimir. Peter is tough SOB but he isn't the most polished fighter. Like I stated before he throws big looping punches that Klitschko a very polished boxer will be able to set up his jab to easily with this type of fighter. The person that defeats Klitschko in my opinion will be a fighter that can match his reach and throw a nasty straight handed left.

Dude - You started a TD arguing about Peter and Klitschko - You picked Peter - If I don't argue for Klitschko, who am I going to argue for? If I wanted to take this TD, did I have any other choice OTHER than Klitschko? You're weird
