This is only for the 2007-2008 season. It's only Division I college basketball. Let's get that clear.

The ten Indiana Division I teams (Evansville, IU, Purdue, Notre Dame, Indiana State, Butler, Valpo, IPFW, IUPUI, Ball State) have a combined record of 191-199 (.623 winning %).

IU, Purdue, Notre Dame, and Butler are locks for the NCAA Tournament. IUPUI is currently winning their Summit League semifinal game.

IPFW and Valporaiso both made their conference's semifinals.

60% of the teams won 20 or more games.

George Hill (IUPUI) and Mike Green (Butler) have won their conference's Player of the Year award, while Luke Harangody (ND) and DJ White (IU) are locks for their's.

Indiana has 4 teams in the AP Top 25 poll. That is the most out of any state. North Carolina and Tennessee both have 3 and no one else close in the votings.

In Joe Lunardi's bracket, IU, Purdue, and Notre Dame are 4 seeds while Butler is a 5. Indiana is the only state to have 4 teams in with seeds of 5 or higher in Lunardi's bracket.

Indiana has 3 players in the Top 25 in ppg in the nation, 2 in rpg, 1 in apg, 1 in fgs made, 3 in fts made, and 1 in 3 pointers made.

First off...how can you have a .623 winning % when the schools combine with a losing record? 191-199

Secondly i will take North Carolina...with a 225-174 overall record of Div-1 schools...

Duke, UNC and Davidson are locks for he tourney...along with UNC Asheville, App st and Greensboro being on the verge of entrance...if not in

2 top 25 teams and having UNC and Duke in the top 10 all season long and 1 or the other in the top 5 all season long they take the overall lead for North Carolina schools...Now there are 13 teams in D-1 ball and only 4 of them have losing records....No i can't and wont compare team for team with Indiana because of you have 10 out there and i have 13....so overall
There is possible player of the year in NC along with the arguable best conference in NCAA...
With 5 possible locks for the tourney and an overall better record than the state of Indiana i would say that NC has a better state for bball...

Now on to the prestige of UNC and Duke basketball..you have two of the most recognized and winningest programs in the state...This years schedule only adds to the greatness of these two schools...

the 19 DI teams in North Carolina (not 13) have a combined record of 319-252.

I really don't think UNC-A, App. State, and Greensboro were ever on too much of a tourney threat. Valpo was at one point this year.

No way the ACC is the best conference in the country. I just needed to get that out.

North Carolina will only get three teams into the tourney. Indiana already has four that are virtually guaranteed, and IUPUI can clinch a birth into the tourney with a win tonight on ESPN.

There is also a possible player of the year in Indiana (Harangody) who actually plays in the best conference in the nation.

Yes, North Carolina does have a better record. That is inarguable. But...the level of play is questionable. IUPUI and IPFW are the only teams that are in a certain 1 bid league. The ACC is the only multiple bid league that has North Carolina teams.

Prestige isn't a big deal here. The only thing that this is based off of is the current season.

Indiana will have more teams in the tournament than NC. Sixty percent of the teams in Indiana have 20 or more wins, compared to 21% in NC. Overall, the state of Indiana has better college basketball than NC.

Never said the ACC was the best conference in the country....but overall it is...and your crazy to think that the big ten is better than the ACC overall...

Tyler Hansborough is a lcok for ACC player of the year along with a condidate for NCAA player of the year...along with him...
Steven Currey is a sure lock for his conference player of the year...

Indiana thein the best conference? HAHAHAHA....im big ten and thats a joke! indiana cant stay consistant long enough to call themselves a serious contender...Michigan st has the same problem and wisco could easily fall to your OSU team...Big ten at best is 3rd...

With more teamas in NC how is it the same to compare to a state that has 10? we have double the wins with less than half, double of the schools...4 locks for the tourney UNC DUKE DAVIDSON AND BELMONTwith IMO multiple bubble teams UNC Asheville and greensboro...would give NC 6 teams int eh tourney....

better record...more wins,, multiple teams int eh tourney and top teams being ranked top seeds throughout the year and multiple players being mentinoed for POY in their conferences along with NCAA gives NC the title of best state for bball

Forfeited Turn

OK then...you had great arguments why did you forfeit?
Anyways UNC is the best basketball state...two schools ALWASY in the top 25 every year along with multiple schools breaking 20 win season....and possibly 5 to 6 teams in the tourney...the state of North Carolina is better than the state of Indiana...
