Felix Hernandez, 22, Mariners


Phil Hughes 21

Yes I'm giving love to a Yankee


heres the numbers

Felix-14-7 3.92 era 165 k's 1.38 whip
Hughes-5-3 4.46 era 1.28 whip
Overall Felix's numbers are better but its not because he has more experince.In Hernandez's first year he was 4-4 with a 2.67 era,so even in his first year he had better numbers.I mean Felix is going to become the ace of the Mariners and is already a good pitcher with three years of experince.Plus in 13 games Hughes had 29 walks,so he clearly has control problems,even if his era is good.In the end almost everything favors Felix's since he has more experince,better numbers,and is only one year older.

It seems to me I'm fighting a losing battle here,alas,I will not give.Phil Hughes,has shown tremendous talent,the likes of which made him one of the yankees best prospects in years.Once he gets in a full year under his belt.

He already had a lower WHIP,a now important stat among pitchers in baseball,Felix has already had experience as well.Here's some notes from wikipedia.

He has an arsenal of 5 good pitches,:
4 Seam Fastball
2 seam fastball
Knuckle Curveball
Changeup
The occasional slider.

An interesting stat I saw was that hitters had an over .280 avg against him while opponents hit .235 off Hughes,give him time this year to show he is better than King Felix


Hughes has a lower whip and oba since he hasent pitched as much as Felix.Plus Felix has a lower era and doesnt walk as many batters as hughes does.

Hernandez also has a solid arsenal
4 seam fastball-Feliz throws one of the hardest and fastest 4 seamers in the league which is always in the mid 90's
2 seam fastball-The pitch is more like a sinker since it sinks as it approches the batter
Curveball-solid pitch,better than most other pitchers
Changeup-another solid pitch,which he has great control over
Slider-One of Felix's best pitches which he has great control over

Overall all of Felixs pitches are really good.He uses all of them,so hitters are always guessing and never know what pitch he will throw.Felix is an amazing pitcher with years of experince and is the best pitcher under the age of 23

At this point Felix is only 21 too, he will turn 22 in the 2-3 rd week of the year.
