In the Eastern Conference I think that the Cleveland Cavs are the team to beat. Not only are they the defending Eastern Conference Champs but they still have Lebron who is better than he was last year when he lead the Cavs to the Finals. They are a solid defensive team and are even better now with the addition of Ben Wallace. With the addition of Wally Szczerbiak it gives Lebron another shooter to kick the ball out to when he drives.
They have a solid bench with the Damon Jones, Gibson, Wally, Joe Smith, and Varejao that can provide scoring, defense, and energy. All key factors when the playoffs come around. Ben Wallace, Joe Smith, and Varejao are all very capable defenders. While Jones, Gibson, and Wally are all able to spot up and knock down shots.
We have seen Lebron step his game up in the playoffs remember last year against he Pistons, and became an unstoppable force. He has had an unbelievable season thus far and there is no reason to believe that anyone in the East can stop him when a trip to the Finals is at stake.

Hmmm... you take the Cavs? Alright, then I take the Raptors! Yes this would not be the popular choice but let's breakdown their team:
C- Andrea Bargnani- Bargnani has had his ons and his offs but he still can be great when he is in the zone. When he starts he is great! In 25 minutes per game he can still get 12 PPG and 4 RPG. If he played like 35 minutes per game he could post numbers like 18-8. He is another big man who can hit 3's (78 made 3's this year).
PF- Chris Bosh- Do I really need to explain Bosh? He is a huge talent who still has lots of potential. He provides double-doubles like every night and is a great team leader. He is also a big man who can hit long distance shots.
SF-Jamario Moon- Moon is only a rookie who will improve over time. He mostly plays for his D and energy. Still he is a great defensive player (6 RPG, 1.5 SPG, 1.5 BPG)
SG- Anthony Parker- Parker is mainly on the floor because he can hit 3's very well. He has made 120 3's and shoots them at 47%. Also, in his last 5 games he has scored more than 15 points every game.
PG- Jose Calderon- Calderon is a great PG who gets 9 APG. Running out of room, I'm running out of room so more in my next arguement

Interesting choice.
You say that IF Bargnani was getting 35 minutes a game than he could post numbers like 18-8 but he is not getting those minutes for whatever reason. The fact is that he is averaging 25 minutes the game and he is averaging 10 points and 4 rebounds which is not that great. Big Z does not have three point range but he can step out and hit mid range jump shots, he is shooting 47% from the field and is averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds a game.
Bosh is an awesome player but the Cavs have great depth at the PF position (Wallace, Smith, and then throw in some Varejao) and they are all very talented defenders, now I am not saying they will shut Bosh down but they can very possibly limit his production.
Jamario may very well improve over time yet that will not help the Raptors this year when they would have to play the Cavs, more specifically when he has to be the one to get abused by Lebron. He may be a great defender but he is not going to stop LBJ.
Calderon is good but he is pretty inconsistent he puts up great games and also has his share of stinkers. He can't seem to outright win the job from Ford. Well see what he can do during the playoffs.
Out of room

Sorry, I was at school and forgot to argue....
Even if Calderon proves that he can't be the starting PG, they always have TJ Ford backing him up. Still Calderon does get 9 APG , that is good and you can't deny it!
As for Wallace guarding Bosh. Wallace is to old and slow to guard Bosh very well. He has about as much of a chance of guarding him as Moon has of guarding LeBron. AKA, no chance at all!
Bargnani has played very well lately and if he can keep playing like he is now then he will be a great help to the Raptors in the playoffs. He is not a center who gets rebounds but one who gets points. He can step away and hit that fade-away 20-footer.
The Cavs made the finals last year but since then they have lost like 1/4 of their team. They have an inexperienced PG and an old PF who's best days are far behind him. Sure they have LeBron and Illgauskus but those 2 can't take the Cavs to the finals alone. Last year some of the cavs other players had to really step up to get them there!
