I'd pick Eli for the win, which he did, (and i'm not saying that because he did, but because i think so) and david tyree for runner up.
argue in 2 and 3
E4P Is Not So Mad For Max said 03/15, 11:57 PM
I too pick Eli first so there's no arguement there. I choose the whole defensive line for the 2nd. (Don't say you can't do that because there's no rules against it)
And i have one question for you. Were you Eli Manning biggiest fan before he won the superbowl?
EliManning's#1Fan want Skool said 03/16, 03:16 PM
i created this account the morning of the super bowl. and i have been a fan of the giants since i was seven, besides, and i watched Eli when he played for ole miss. ask my best friend mr. brady. he'll tell you the same. and the word RUNNER UP means one person. the topic of this td is :If You were to vote on Super Bowl MVP, who would you pick? (winner and runner-up), not RUNNERS UP.
Well, we both agree on Eli for winner, so there's no argument there.
If Tyree hadn't have caught that circus catch (not to mention his earlier 5 yard td run), there's no doubt the game could have very well ended up in a patriots perfect season. And a team can not win on only defense. If you have no offense, and your defense, which plays phenominally, screws up, and the opposing team scores, there's almost no doubt that you're going to lose.
E4P Is Not So Mad For Max said 03/16, 07:43 PM
Tyree made one catch. Sure it was increadible, I'll even call it legendary but look at his overall stats:
3 catches, 43 yards, 1 TD
I don't think that's MVP worthy. The only reason I'd give it to Eli is that he orchestrated that whole drive, not just a single play.
But they couldn't have won the game without there entire d-line. Once again, don't tell me there can't be mutiple mvp winners. Just look at Superbowl XII when Harvey Martin and Randy White, to defensive line players, shared the award.
But let me get back to my arguement. The D-Line made the LEAGUE MVP uncofortable all day. They are the main catalyst for holding maybe one of the greatest offenses ever assembled to only 275 yards. If they have an average day, New England would have tourched them for their league high average of 37 points a game.
I don't think you can name a MVP on a single play, no matter how spectacular is was.

I can't decide which is weaker; the entire defensive line, or David Tyree's one catch.
Vote to Detroit, Justin Tuck. Saying there isn't a rule against voting for an entire defensive line for Most Valuable Player makes about as much sense as saying the Patriots should have been voted Offensive Player of the Year.

Dont hate cooz. There is no rule. There have been two guys to win the award at once so why cant they be four or five.

When the defense shuts down the highest-flying offense EVER and holds them to the fewest points that they scored all season, then the case is closed. Everyone knew that the Patriots could be scored on; the question was whether or not the Giants could score enough to keep up with the Patriots. The defense gave them that opportunity.
And IF the award has gone to more than one person in the past, then I don't see why it can't go to a defensive line. Just because it HASN'T been done doesn't mean it can't be done.
