Your Leader....WOW said 03/22, 12:52 PM
Thought we could do something a little bit different for this Throwdown.
Rules: Must post a video link in your argument.
Must be a dunk from the pros, college or high school ranks. No backyard gimmicks.
Must be during an actual game. Halftime and dunk competitions do NOT count.

The mighty Kansas Jayhawks come up with the loose ball! He's all alone for the hammer dunk...and he falls down. Oh, the embarrassment! Worse than tossing up an airball at the free throw line is missing the wide open dunk. But when you don't even touch the rim! That is the lowest of the low. Just imagine how many times his teammates have used that clip at parties. Haha absolutely hilarious!
What makes this even funnier, is that ESPN had the clip. Not only did the people in attendance get to see it, it got spread throughout the nation! Did the ESPN anchors feel any pity for the young lad? Haha definitely not! "And now the greatest play of the night..."
This guy has the best missed dunk that I could find. Prove me wrong though! I'm always looking for a laugh!

Your dunk was pretty funny - I've never seen that one - gave me a good laugh
But I'd suggest you look at it closely - Wright is going up for the dunk but loses his handle on the ball in the process of trying to windmill it with one hand
Yes - it's humiliating but the reason he looked so awkward was because he lost his grip on the ball and realised that as he was elevating - so he didn't bother continuing with the dunk - slipping while you're dunking ain't so bad
I think a funnier missed dunk is one by Tony Parker
http://youtube.com/watch?v=rxLmgmQSVCw
The dude plays in the NBA - is an all star point guard - he gives himself time to elevate, dribbling to his preferred side - no one around him - and gets rejected....BY THE RIM - ouch - that's gotta hurt his pride
I wonder if Eva was watching
Your Leader....WOW said 03/22, 01:40 PM
Nicely done! If Eva was watching I'm sure that she made it up to him later on...
I would still have to say that Wright's is a bit funnier though. Tony Parker is a point guard so he has to get up more (although it was a very weak attempt on his part!). Wright is a bigger guy and can dunk with ease.
Wright's awkwardness is what makes his "dunk" so funny. It reminds me of little kids that are trying to do that perfect dunk in their driveway and just can't seem to get it. Also, falling down when you're all by yourself is hilarious! His "dunk" is comparable to somebody walking down the street and tripping over their own shoes.
What also makes Wright's a bit funnier, in my opinion, was that it was in a college game. Typically, college fans are diehards, more so then pro fans. Imagine the hype for those two seconds or so as he was streaking down the court. The tension and anticipation for this huge dunk...and he just flails around like a fish in a net and falls on his face.
You think his mom kissed it better?
Kobe is Beef said 03/22, 01:52 PM
Well - I think that's what makes Parker's missed dunk so funny - cos he surely knew his own capabilities - what was it that made him forget that he's a point guard with no hops? In a obvious attempt to show off (probably to Eva), he humiliated himself on a larger scale than Wright
Maybe Eva said she'd only give him boom boom if he dunked for her - reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer promises the kid that Paul O'Neill would hit those HRs for him....but I digress
I think those moments when you get a rush of blood - and talk yourself into doing something that you can't usually do very well - or probably don't have a shot of pulling off consistently and then you go ahead and do it anyways - only to only humiliate yourself in front of so many people - well - doesn't get any worse than that
Actually - it does - again he got rejected by the ring!!
I can imagine Duncan ribbing him in the locker telling him that the statistician should be awarding a 'block' to the rim
Your Leader....WOW said 03/22, 02:01 PM
Good call on the Paul O'Neil episode! "He said he'd hit two for me!"
I agree with the rush of wanting to prove yourself to tons of people and how embarrassing that would be...especially with the rim getting the monster block! But isn't something even more embarrassing when you know you can do it, and instead you fail miserably and fall down?
Wright must have been dribbling down and thinking about how great this was going to be. I know the fans were thinking that! They all had pre-concieved notions of just how this would turn out, at least two points in all of their minds I'm sure.
So the big moment arrives, Wright leaps into the air, and loses control of the ball. That, in itself isn't so bad. However, after that, he flails after it making himself look like a complete fool. In his mindless flailing, he forgot that he still had to land on his feet! How embarrassing for this collegiate athlete, some of the most graceful people on earth, to not even be able to jump and land on his feet.
Good throwdown either way! Thanks for the laugh!

True - you're right - you'd think that Parker should be expected to miss his dunks - but think about it - Wright is 6-8 - he's got hops - he know he can dunk
He's going at close to full speed in your video - as he elevates, he goes for a dunk with a greater degree of difficulty - a windmill - he's gotta make sure he gets a good grip on the ball but he doesn't - and he ends up humiliated - but based on difficulty of the dunk and the speed he was approaching the hoop, it's at least forgivable
Parker on the other hand - was taking a walk in the park - had all the time in the world - had the luxury of even dribbling to his preferred side - and attempted one of the most elementary dunks - and still failed miserably while getting facialed by the rim
At least Wright didn't look hurt - I think from looking at Parker, he may have actually hurt himself from the great block he received from the rim - he had a goofy smile on his face while clutching his back - I didn't know that's where his pride resides on his body
Thank you too for the TD - too bad i can't think of a funny banned sports commercial ><
