How can you say they aren't?! We are 18-5 in our last 23 games. And in that stretch we have beaten teams such as the pistons, spurs, celtics, suns, mavericks, and orlando. I would like to see someone say no to this.

What do you mean by for real? I consider the C's, Pistons, Spurs, Suns, and Lakers for real. I think if a team is "for real" they can win a title.

Are you going to sit here and tell me that the 76ers are going to even win a second round series? If they keep up this cute little hot streak they might be able to get the 5 or 4 seed at best. (But that's only if Lebron decides to take a extended vacation.) At the 5 or 4 they are going to be playing the defending eastern champs with maybe the best player in the game. Even if they pay someone to assassinate lebron and somehow get to the 2nd round, they wont get a single game from the C's or Pistons.

Just like the Rockets were, the 76ers are hot but being "for real" means being a championship contender and calling the sixers that is like calling me Ghandi.

By for real it means stepping up to the plate. A lot of people forget that this team had a 18-30 record at the all star brake and many experts predicted them to be out of the playoff picture in the east. They were predicted to lose a lot of the upcoming games after the brake too but look were they are now. You call their "little run cute"? No nothing about thsi is "cute". The truth is the shut Boston down. With 9 minutes to go in the 4th quarter they were down by 11 (80-69) but they held them scoreless for 7 minutes I think it was and went on a 19-0 run and beat them 95-90. This team is fighting their way back to the top and next year they will be scary. Don't sleep on this team at the end of the year they could be all the way up to the 4th spot in the east.

You think Boston really cares anymore? They have the division locked up and unless they all suffer from a rare case of leprosy there gonna be the number one seed. At this point there just trying not to get exhausted before the playoffs.

And I'll agree with your defination of "for real" for the sake of this arguement. Wouldn't you call stepping up to the plate winning a playoffs series? They WONT get a game from the C's and Pistons and there is no way they can beat the defending east champs or the magic.

You tell me not to sleep on this team but I think I'd just rather take a nap because at the end of the year they will have the same thing the Heat have...NOTHING!! Scratch that they Heat will get to be in the Michael Beasley auction.

Alright who are the Celtics..... Basically Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and kevin garnett. I think we can all agree on this. If they never "tried" and they didnt care. Then why did allen take 8 three pointers? and only make 1. The celtics took 3 more shots the the sixers , and have 28 assists and the sixers only had 15. Dont cop the celtics out here the celtics came to play and the 76ers played back. The celtics had 52 points at halftime and garnett, pierce, and allen all had 35 of those points, Leon Powe had 12. The point of that is to prove that they were trying, if they werent they wouldnt get paid. Plain and simple. Now to the real topic of how the 76ers are forreal. How can you say that they couldnt get past the second round? They've taken the season series with detroit 2-1, the raptors 3-1, the magic 2-2, and so far the cavs 2-0. so yeah, so far i would go as far to say that we may see the 76ers in the second round. and who knows? maybe even further. good luck!

Your arguements are almost as frail as Brandon Marshall's alibi. (He can shake dbs but a McDonalds bag takes him down!)

They beat the C's, a team whose already clinched their division, and your prasing them as the resurected form of Jesus. Dude the F'n Bobcats beat the Celtics so by your definition, they 3/4 of the way "for real".

Remember when Portland got hot for about five minutes. Their situation sounds oddly similar. Where are they now? On the outside looking in. Ditto to the Rockets.(Even though their streak was FAAAR more impressive.)

Are you just gonna take this team whose extrememly young and entirely untested in the playoffs to win a series just because they got semi-hot?!?!?! Pass the peace pipe...

March 25, 2008  08:06 PM ET

Also I forgot to mention how many teams shut Boston out for 8 minutes? Honestly.

March 25, 2008  08:11 PM ET

the sixers COULD be scary....
they have like 4 guys that could go for 15-20 on a given night
but the key word is could...

March 25, 2008  08:13 PM ET

Just like you said COULD. I could win the lottery today. That makes me for real....

March 25, 2008  08:29 PM ET

The thing with the sixers is they make too many mental errors and if the would hit at least 75% of their free throws the could have about 40+ wins this year. The need to execute perfectly, just like they have in this recent streak.

March 25, 2008  08:30 PM ET

Nice, Elway...win the lottery and pay for Marshall's medical care.

March 25, 2008  08:33 PM ET

OHHH, keep it up cooz, you are out numbered now!

Elway, Orlado should be on your "for real" list.

Go look at this weeks' BS7 blog if you don't believe me.

March 25, 2008  08:41 PM ET

Joeshua is 100% right. The 76ers are for real and are a force to be reken with. If I were orlando or cleveland I'd be scared

March 25, 2008  08:43 PM ET

Elway is a loser, he called it a cute little winning streak

March 25, 2008  08:50 PM ET

not buying it....the blazers were for real in there small 10 game streak and now where are they....if they were for real they would be contending all seaosn long...not just an 18-30 record at teh all star break.....--------->

March 25, 2008  09:07 PM ET

Joeshua, you ask how can they not be for real when they've gone 18-5 in their last 23 games, well, people are still questioning if the Rockets for real, if you remember, they had a 22 game winning streak. Even during the streak people were saying they weren't for real.

March 25, 2008  09:08 PM ET

welll i think the 76ers are for real, and if you think i'm lying i've written 3 blogs about them. 10-2 in the month of march, beating the celts at boston, and beating SA, and a bunch of other assorted teams. i think they are getting to be for real for sure. and joshuea apparently cant spell his own name (neither could i)or his arguement but they are good fights. i'm picking josh in this one.

I wouldn't trash the Sixers too much. They're definitely a 500 team...which in the East makes you a top team. The thing you can't argue agains the Sixers is the effort is there. Even last year they didn't try to tank it. I'm voting for the Sixers on this one. For a team that still had Billy King for parts of this year, Larry Brown constantly lurking in the shadows to eat someone's soul or a coaching job, and no "Iverson" type player...they've sure impressed me. Likely a first or second round bow out, but that's farther than most people had them.

March 26, 2008  05:41 AM ET

Dude did you read this at alll????? Its if they are for real? Only title contenders are for real.

"The 76ers are for real."

First of all, you should always say "4 real". It's cool.

Second, they are so "4 real" that they're one game over .500. That's barely one step up from being make believe.

But he's saying NOW they have got it together. Being that far below .500 at all-star break to being above .500 now is pretty impressive. I agree that they are 4 real because they play in the East. If you are .500 you are going to the playoffs.

It seems like the phrase "for real" is on serious decline. Hey look a piece of toast! Ooo looks pretty fresh, let's call it for real
