Contrary to popular belief, i do not believe that UCLA is a final four team this year. Alot of people are already deeming them the national champs. For one i believe that they have one of the toughest roads to the final four by having to beat possibly either Xavier, Stanford, or Texas. Either one of those teams can contend with UCLA if not beat them and also there's memphis who only lost once this year. The only team i dont believe to be able to beat them out of those four is Xavier. Stanford Texas or Memphis are more than capable enough to shock the Bruins world.

Well, there's no way of truly predicting who will make the final four- this has already been one of the craziest tournaments in recent memory. Any of the 16 teams have a chance to bow out or a chance to move on, and UCLA has a good shot of getting to San Antonio.

-Stanford: You'd be hard pressed to come up with a defense for this one. They play in the same conference and UCLA beat them twice durng the season. So what evidence there is clearly points to UCLA being the better team.

-Xavier: I love the Musketeers being that I'm from Cincinnati originally, but do you really think they match up with a power team like UCLA? Both conference winners, but A-10 versus Pac-10 and UCLA had the better record overall.

-Texas: Now here's one you can argue. They beat UCLA in the regular season and clearly have the talent to do it again. However UCLA had a better overall record and won their conference (reg and tourney). Still, this is your best shot at victory in this TD. We'll return to this.

-Memphis: The weakest of the #1 seeds. I love the Tigers, but before they even get to UCLA they'd have to beat Texas IN Texas. Possible, but tough...

UCLA has a good shot.

Forfeited Turn

I got so wrapped up in refuting your team by team analysis that I ran out of space before I hit the main point (which I added in the comments): Memphis, Texas, and Stanford all play in a DIFFERENT region, and have no impact on UCLA reaching the Final Four at all.

To reach the FInal Four UCLA must beat WKU and the winner of Xavier/ West Virginia.

Maybe you're trying to draw this out to see if UCLA loses tonight. Then you can claim you were right all along. But that kind a win attempt isn't good for TDs.

Forfeited Turn

You must really believe in this.

Anyway, after beating WKU, they must beat Xavier to reach San Antonio.

Doable.

Since there's nothing else to argue, off we go.

Plus, Memphis, Stanford, and Texas are all in a different region and won't impact UCLA's road to the Final 4. The only wins they need are over WKU and WVU/ Xavier.

I'll get to WVU in #2.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Texas and Memphis only possible for UCLA to play if they reach the Final Four?

Beat me to it Porkins

March 26, 2008  04:36 PM ET

I guess I should have started there, but the team-by-team thing got in my way.

March 26, 2008  04:37 PM ET

Haha well you made good points for them!

March 26, 2008  04:38 PM ET

I wasn't sure if he said "final four" but meant "chmpionship game", or if he didn't realize that Texas, Stanford, and Memphis were in a different region. So I figured I'd cover all the bases.

Earlier he was arguing about kangaroo's beating people at things so I'm sure he would've warped this somehow. Haha I'll wait for second arguments but definitely leaning right

March 26, 2008  04:44 PM ET

No vote yet. I agree with left but Porkins has a good argument. Not leaning left or right.
